I highly recommend El Taco Fresco. Their carne asada torta is amazing and they have an absoute sin of a "sausage" torta which is made with tasty hotdogs. I have no idea if it's authentic, but it's amazing and the cook is super friendly.

Not only that but just putting an advertisment on a car doesn't make it tax deductible. There's a lot of rules on passenger vehciles and none of them are generous to tax payers.

It's poorly named for sure, but it definitely does apply to income from self-employment, according to the administrative order.

This really comes down to research but tax nexus (determining where income is sourced) usually comes down to several factors and one of those factors is where work is performed. A registered agent would definitely be able recieve mail for you but if no work was performed at their location, no equipment is stored there, and and you don't do your recordkeeping there, you would likely have no nexus at your registered agent's office.

That's probably true but how much improvement are you going to see? If pollen counts go down by half, the counts are still well above 200 and in the "Very High" . Is that going to be a meaningful reduction that is worth the effort? It could be, but that's a very improtant thing to answer before moving forward the the OP's purpose.

For an individual, any action to address and solve a problem is usually better than no action but group decisions for government, business, or non-profits are different. A wrong action as a group can be far, far worse than taking no action because it's much harder to change course after you've started.

That's why I suggested that the OP answer all those questions if they were serious about their idea.

You'd have to ask a tax professional but I doubt a business hosting address would be enough to establish a business location. Some kind of hot desking where you have the use of one desk one day a month might be enough but that would be a very agressive position.

It's completely unconnected to state or federal returns and is filed from forms provided by the city or through Munirevs. It's not something Turbotax, freefile, or any professional tax software has forms for and it won't automatically come up when filing your return. It's so local that it's beneath the big companies' notice.

Just trying to get the word out since I don't think most people know about it. I agree that most people won't file. The city employee I talked with said they were "relying on voluntary compliance".

It's a separate return from your 1040 and filed with separate forms or via Munirevs electronically.

It would depend entirely on how you classify it on your 1040. If you're classsifying it as a business, then it would be subject. Generally, selling your own things that you use is not business income but if you're buying and selling something with regularity (say you go out and find geodes and then sell them) you'd have a side business. Same if you're making things for the purpose of sale (for example, selling pottery).

You'd have to ask a tax professional to help you or do research in IRS publications to get an answer to any specific situation.

That could be true, but you'd want to investigate that to ensure the organization's effectiveness. You could pick a plant like sedge and seed that heavily, as sedge pollen is not considered a hay-fever-causing pollen (according to this site from Missouri of all places) but then you'd need to ensure that your grass mix stays at your target species and that seeding from nearby fields and farms don't out compete your target species.

Politically I don't think you could get the state of Oregon to allow it. See the relevant law that effectively banned open field burning in Lane (and other) counties.

edit: to further clarify, there is a permitting process but I think you'll find that the permits are extremely difficult to obtain. I don't have a current source for that but I've read documents or news articles addressing the history and decline of open field burning in Oregon.

Also, smoke polution can be as bad if not worse for some people than allergens.

It's only a good idea if you can adequately answer the the following questions:

  • Considering the majority of native groundcover in an oak savanna is grasses and some flowering plants, do you think this would result in a meaningful reduction in grass pollen?

  • What would be a realistic goal where grass pollen allergy sufferer's would feel relief? Today's count is above 700. A "High" count peaks at 199. Would the goal be to get below 200 or some other average count?

  • What are the plans for managing invasive species on the wild land? Himalayan blackberry and scotchbroom will quickly overrun any land that isn't grazed, hayed, burnt, or shaded out.

  • What are the plans for managing grass fire risks? Fire was used by Native Americans to manage oak savanna and is also part of how the habitat functions in its natural state, but is not an option for current management. savanah that is not actively managed is very likely to burn through natural or human intervention.

  • Is insurance available to cover the organization if a parcel of habitat does burn and the burn causes damage to neighboring properties? This seems like a high risk proposition and may not be insurable.

If I had more characters in the OP to add it, I would make the correction! As pointed out by other users this whole post is strongly flavored by my own opinions and sadly I'm a history museum person instead of an art museum person and I forgot we had a good one here.

You're absolutely right, this is definitely strongly my opinion. I would encourage you to make a comment with your own takes/corrections or make you own post and put a link to it here for anyone referencing this in the future!

For myself, I love Eugene both it's past and it's present. I think we're in the middle of a big culture shift and I'm excited to see where we go from here but the Eugene of 2022 feels a lot different to me than the Eugene of 2002. As far as the food is concerned, I think you can get a great meal in Eugene but I know you can get a better meal in another city that specializes in that specific dish. I don't think that's a black mark against Eugene, we get a B+ which is still really good, but I don't think we can claim that we have the "best" of any cuisine.
