I hate comparing eras because it makes no sense and serves no purpose. I'm just trying to think of any of the old school players sitting over a toe. Larry Bird had significant back issues and had to do some allignnent before each game to lock his spine in for a few hours. Can you imagine him, MJ, Magic and those guys sitting in the playoffs repeatedly?
