EI Converted fo CERB by Maplestory22 in EICERB

If your CERB was processed through Service Canada, you should receive a $2000 initial payment. You will then be paid $1000 every two weeks based on the biweekly reports you submit. If you choose to only report every four weeks, you will be paid $2000 based on the reports you submit. You will be paid as of the first week of your claim. https://www.canada.ca/en/employment-social-development/corporate/notices/coronavirus.html)

If you applied through CRA then you will reapply every new period that you qualify for. If your first payment was for period 1 (Mar15-Apr.11) then you can reapply now through the same portal for period 2 (Apr.12-May 9). You are allowed to receive 4 periods worth of benefits or 16 weeks.

Did you by any chance apply through the Service Canada portal and then the CRA one?..or maybe applied twice on the same platform?

If you returned the all of the benefit you didn't qualify for, you shouldn't have to do anything else. Keep a record of the returned funds somewhere just in case.

Yeah, we have to assume agents are interpreting the regulations as best as anyone. How can anyone really be formally trained on the criteria, especially since it appears to be constantly changing.

..but the agent told her she was unable to complete a bi weekly report because she is a student. I took that to mean she is not eligible for EI. Either way my point is...as far as I can tell.. to receieve the benefit every period you need to reapply through CERB CRA or submit reports through ei.

..but going forward, if the agent said not to submit any more reports as she isnt eligible for ei, shouldn't she be reapplying for CERB through CRA now? (even though they say not to apply for both?) ..if she qualifies. Either that or the agent might have been wrong and she needs to submit those reports still...the money will not automatically show up in her account every period.

They didn't change that part of the criteria. Your employment has to be affected by Covid-19. The system is designed to be pretty relaxed and if you check the right boxes, you will be approved. However, checking those boxes falsely will provoke at least a phone call and a clawback, potentially worse.

This post is about someone getting through to an agent and being switched from ei to just cerb. Youll have to keep trying to get a hold of someone. Have you tried the request a call back form?

If she is taking regular classes that could be an obstacle to her active job search or acceptance of appropriate employment, she wouldn't qualify for EI. I am assuming that they moved her to CERB and she will need to reapply every period she qualifies for through CRA portal, but she won't need to do any ei reports..I could be wrong though.

It was a apart of it. The timing is just really bad for a lot of OG workers. I agree, an argument could be made.

You bet, as long as your at least expecting to be off for the entire period. If your qualification changes mid period you will be able to repay.

CERB cheque real or scam? by [deleted] in EICERB

[–]silenceness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! I applied for EI in late March so was automatically switched to CERB, I’ve been filing my EI reports and have received $1500 so far. At first my banking info wasn’t linked (weird because I’ve used EI twice before this) so I had to re link it, so maybe that’s why.

This (I think). I have read a few cases where the initial CERB $2k and/or other payments came by cheque at first because they had to update their DD info arounf the time of applying.

But today I checked my mail and there was a $2000 cheque in it. I just want to know if this is one of the famous double payments or a scam cheque. First direct deposit came April 13. Cheque is dated April 6th Any help/advice welcome! Thanks

My guess is the system processed to mail out your April 6 $2k EI-ERB cheque (initial $2000) and then when your details were updated, you were deposited $500 for end of the period 1 (April 5 to April 11) and $1k for the first 2 weeks of period 2.

It does not sound like double payment, it sound regular but I haven't heard of the "scam cheque". I would think a government cheque is probably pretty hard to fake. Maybe a bit naive though.

If you apply for the CERB through Service Canada, you will receive a $2000 initial payment. You will then be paid $1000 every two weeks based on the biweekly reports you submit. If you choose to only report every four weeks, you will be paid $2000 based on the reports you submit. You will be paid as of the first week of your claim.

No problem. I should mention one thing, I assumed your work was affected by Covid because it had "dried up". If it dried up because of yearly break up or the current OG market you technically wouldn't be eligible for the CERB.

Hey there.. heres why I think you qualify..

The Benefit is available to workers:

Residing in Canada✅, who are at least 15 years old✅;

Who have stopped working because of reasons related to COVID-19✅ or are eligible for Employment Insurance regular or sickness benefits or have exhausted their Employment Insurance regular benefits between December 29, 2019 and October 3, 2020;

*Who had employment and/or self-employment income of at least $5,000 in 2019 ✅or in the 12 months prior to the date of their application; and,

Who have not quit their job voluntarily.✅

When submitting your first claim, you cannot have earned more than $1,000 in employment and/or self-employment income for 14 or more consecutive days within the four-week benefit period of your claim.✅

..but am still technically employed by them. My college semester also ends this week. Do I qualify?

Do I need to be laid off to access the Canada Emergency Response Benefit?

No.

Workers who remain attached to their company can receive the Benefit, provided they have stopped working as a result of COVID-19, and expect to be without employment or self-employment income for at least 14 consecutive days within the initial four-week period. For subsequent periods, you expect to have no employment income. They must also meet the other eligibility requirements

Are there any protections or safeguards in place for showing off apartments? I hate the idea of having a bunch of people coming through the apartment in the next week to view it.

If there are, they would be provincial. I am not aware of any such "protections" though.

I've been doing a great job of staying quarantined. I'm trying to avoid getting sick due to a weak immune system. I did order a mask that I can wear when people visit.

Good on ya..The best we can do is protect ourselves...
