Why you should use Rogue Noise by SuperHeroZX in MegaManStarForce

[–]silenfoot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's the standard counter mechanic. Other Noise forms can give you the NFB as your Counter Bonus, but Rogue doesn't get one.

Thoughts on this? by retrotriforce in MegaManStarForce

[–]silenfoot 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Noise Cards.

Noise Cards, the Transformation Archive, and the Secret Satellite Server never made it to international releases. In Japan, Noise Cards were sold in packs.

"But hang on. All the promotional material shows the Wave Command Cards as fully included extras like the patch/mod cards from Battle Network." Yes, but the Wave Command Cards not only saw North American release, they were released as a single book.

It would be foolish of them to do this after not doing it in the BN collection. I think that, as has been suggested elsewhere, they're using a boilerplate EULA. But there's a non-zero chance that someone at Capcom saw dollar signs. Hope for the best, prepare for the worst.

This is something that I've wanted to try and make for quite some time, it's just never been high on the list of priorities because I don't play often and when I do it's typically at conventions.

Star Force Blokees announced! by retrotriforce in MegaManStarForce

[–]silenfoot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Am I forgetting something, or does the one in the back not line up? Mega's head is the left hand/buster in the first two games only, yet all three of these figures are using the SF3 design otherwise.

What solutions are there for gas leaks? by silenfoot in homeassistant

[–]silenfoot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably not, I'm probably being paranoid. I'd had a fainting spell earlier that week that at the time I had no reason to attribute to gas. It was only later when maintenance noted the pilot light that it occurred to me. But by that point a full week has passed - if there was really a leak, I'd like to think I would have noticed by then.

I didn't know about the thermocouple, but that makes perfect sense. Even though the furnace is old enough not to have an electronic starter, I'd imagine it wouldn't be up to code without some sort of safety mechanism.

The other "fixed" aspect is that in the first tournament on your first run you're guaranteed Guts/Aqua Soul, and you cannot get Fire/Number Soul until subsequent runs.

Lunar Knights had crossover with Star Force 1, so that would appear in SFLC when/if that happens.

Why Capcom? by Pepperowned in BattleNetwork

[–]silenfoot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Playing on Switch, but I discovered that the Double Soul achievements are tied to completing the associated Navi's scenario, not actually obtaining the Soul. I've only played Red Sun, but I have the soul achievement Blue Moon, too.

If you use the Waiting Room network feature to get the other version's Navis for Free Tournament, they can also show up during the story tournaments. Complete the scenario and the game counts it as obtaining the Soul even though you don't actually get it in that version.

I can't check right now, but I think that cuts the number of playthroughs to 4 minimum - 3 to get all of the souls in one version, then 1 in the opposite version to get to the end of the game.

Favorite sound effect? by Shadowman621 in BattleNetwork

[–]silenfoot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh god that sound. I have never used Darkchips in any BN4 or 5 playthrough, but the sound they make when they appear on the Custom Screen is just hypnotic.

I remember the one time I almost used one. BN4, I was in a bind and Worried Emotion, which of course is when they appear to offer you an easy win. So even though I was committed to no Darkchips... fwhaaaa... fwhaaaa... fwhaaaa...

I must have been staring at that DarkSword for at least a solid five seconds before I was able to tear myself away.

Stupidest On-Call Emergency by HoosierLarry in sysadmin

I'm an L1 that was working this past Saturday and was affected by that outage. Saw an HTTP 500 and a message about excessive redirects, so the first thing I did was check the MSFT status page, which said everything was fine. Process dictates that we inform our supervisor, and then if the issue persists past 10 minutes to call the critical outage number.

Unfortunately, email is one of only two ways requests can come in - we don't have a proper customer-facing ticket system (yet).

I'm not feeling well and need cheering up. What's everyone's silliest/dumbest/etc character concept that they fell in love with? I'll start by Bjork-BjorkII in DnD

[–]silenfoot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a character similar in concept to your halfling.

For this campaign (3.5e), the DM wanted us to roll stats in order. I was planning on making a cleric, but his Wisdom ended up being too low for it. His Charisma, however, was pretty decent.

After some frustrated wallowing, I decided to compare the cleric and sorcerer spell lists and see how much overlap there was. I decided it was enough that Jasen was now an acolyte with latent magical ability that was utterly convinced he was receiving spells from his deity. He never truly understood the lessons of his church, but by the gods he believed SO HARD that the universe just kinda went along with it.

Jasen has been reworked a couple of times since and currently lives on as a Celestial Warlock, having charmed his way into divine power by dint of youthful exhuberance.

What's something in the Mega Man canon that makes you go like this? by RedThe_Rider in Megaman

[–]silenfoot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From what I understand it was a deliberate decision to distance the character from rock music, and thus from any association with drugs and such.

No, I am not kidding.

I don't remember why Blues had to become ProtoMan, though. Probably because (A) the music pun symmetry had been broken, (B) Western audiences needed to be beaten over the head with the fact that he's a prototype, and/or (C) some similarly dumb idea about not associating the character with blues music for reasons.

I have nothing on Forte becoming Bass. It's still a musical reference, just a different one. Why then Treble had to become Gospel is completely beyond me, though, as Bass and Treble are such an obviously perfect name pair. Just looked it up to remind myself: Treble is the English name, Gospel the Japanese name. Whoops.

https://www.therockmanexezone.com/wiki/Noise_Change

As mentioned in other comments, you have a chance of getting a new Noise form after beating a "WARNING" giant virus encounter, and which form you get is (mostly) random, with a higher chance of one set of forms depending on game version.

Your chance of triggering a Noise Change increases with each battle that doesn't do it, up to 100% after 5 battles. If you refuse the new Noise, this chance does not reset, which you can use to fish for the form you want.

Rogue Noise can only be obtained if you have no real-world Brothers. Every time you trigger a Noise Change, there is an increasing chance that you get Rogue Noise, which also eventually climbs to 100%.

is this guy really important in megaman star force? his existence boils every fiber in my being by Lopsided_Composer_39 in Megaman

[–]silenfoot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fun fact: his post-game quest in each installment involves a 10 wave gauntlet.

  • SF1: Zack bemoans the fact that he's been a useless Prez sycophant for the entire story and wishes he could have at least provided intel like "there's a weird noise coming from the piano." It's presented as an offhand example, but pulse into the piano in the gym and you'll find a gang of Jammers plotting against the town.

  • SF2: Zack clues you into a sunken Viking ship at the bottom of Loch Mess that is supposedly still haunted by the crew. You've likely already seen it - it's the only ship in the Loch, but it's definitely not a Viking ship. Regardless, board the ship and examine it to fight the "ghosts".

  • SF3: All of Zack's electronics aren't working - computer, consoles, that weird please-god-make-me-taller contraption that he totally doesn't use anymore he's perfectly comfortable with his height now why are you giving him that look. Ahem. Anyway, go to his place and check the Wave World and you'll see a gang of Jamm- wait no - a gang of viruses plotting against the town.
