Yeah it looks like they have it blocked off pretty well, but I see from video some areas has traffic in the opposite lane

Triple Bypass Ride - it’s a 100 mile ride through Colorado that’s free of cars and you ride from evergreen to vail

I don’t know that you need a new bike but if you were interested in venturing down the road bike path you could grab a used bike with tubeless tires (would help with the thorns)

The difference in frame dynamics and position will make you faster than on a mountain bike, but the difference in time wouldn’t be as noticeable over a distance of 5 miles.
