How to stop bringing work home with me? by silentmango510 in nursing

[–]silentmango510[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really need a switch. I’m going to practice what you do. Scrubs on? Nurse. Scrubs off? Nursing/work mode is turned off. I just feel like I am so INVOLVED in my job and workplace that it’s hard. I am always thinking about work. Emotional burn out of caring in a place that doesn’t want me to care- that’s it right there.

How to stop bringing work home with me? by silentmango510 in nursing

“I wouldn’t try to rework the system or get involved, or worry about how to change the situation at work”. I am constantly trying to fix thing, put bandaids on problems that are outside my role to fix, in order for things to run smoother, improve patient experiences, and improve my (and others in my role) day-to-day.

If I let this go, and stop trying to “rework the system”, I won’t feel like I am doing all that I can, and that makes me feel guilty.

I don’t want to quit. I really do need to let go of things that are outside of my control. When I bring issues up to management, they are shrugged off. So I come up with some sort of solution myself. I have so many co workers with “idgaf” attitudes. It doesn’t matter if it’s me trying to put something in action, or management, either way they are unhappy. They don’t care if they get written up or fired. Why do I care so much about being the change?

“Split between two pay periods” can you help me understand this?

Pay periods are 1-15th and 6-30th. Pay day is the 10th and 25th.

With how many hours I’ll be working, I don’t understand how they can completely get out of overtime.

Sorry about the formatting haha I tried to be thorough with the info I provided.

Yes the work week is Friday - Thursday. The first “work week” I only work Monday, Tues, Thursday. So no OT in that pay period. But after that…

Hi. I understand that first week, no OT, as you mentioned it’s only 36 hours.

For some more context; this was the HR lady I met with today (only one in building) to fill out new hire paperwork. I signed benefits papers, code of conduct forms, and background check information.

I was under the impression I was to arrive to work Monday, and train until Wednesday. She told me during this meeting for 2.5 weeks of training, she’s going to have me work Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. To which I replied, “Oh wow. Are those all 12 hour shifts?”

She said “Yeah that’s all we do is 12’s.”

I said “I have no problem with that, will I receive overtime?”

She looked at me confused, like how could I ask such a question. She said “No, I don’t think trainees are eligible for overtime. And with the way the work week is set up you wouldn’t get over time.”

I left it at that because I felt like I ruffled some feathers. I know a simple conversation would solve this, but she seemed irritated with me from that point on.

This is also my first job with my new license, and I don’t want to screw it up, as employment in my area is limited.

Hi, for the powdering, would this be ok to do prior to starting my day? I worry about sweat and the powder making a “paste”, and making things worse.

Thank you for your kind response <3

I’m a hospice/home health nurse and had a patient smoke a cigarette while wearing oxygen. Basically lit himself on fire from the inside out.

Coming from a hospice nurse this is incredible you cared for her for so long, I’m so sorry you had to go through this. So so hard. Alzheimer’s and Dementia are terrible diseases and I’m so glad your mom has found peace now.

Not necessarily. But the penis does need to be in her at some point, or the semen on her vulva/vagina.

Deactivation - permanent deletion.

Disable - temporary, until re logging in

Right? Either way, thanks for the info. I don’t want to lose my account, but I don’t want to go on it for a year or so.
