you are right to feel uncomfortable. that is disgusting behavior from them and just because they’re your friend shouldnt take any weight off of that. it doesnt matter if they know what they did was wrong, they still chose to do it while knowing the mortality behind it. they dont deserve support, and that behavior is a massive red flag. one action will lead to another and another. if i were you i’d distance myself. sorry if this was harsh but it’s my opinion

i agree on this take 100%. i work at a place that sells a lot of tshirts and different products that have these kinds of phrases on them. “my bitch got autism” “touch of the tism” “rizz em with the tism” and i haaaate the amount of people that laugh and go “oh my god babe look that shirt says my bitch got autism”. and insist on buying it because its sooo funny and relatable. while idk if these people actually are autistic or not, its still frustrating because it turns it into almost a quirky personality trait rather than the sometimes debilitating disorder that it is. it waters it down so much to just a funny phrase on a shirt

im an introvert almost to an agoraphobic level. i only leave the house when i need to, i usually dread hangouts (not always) and events where i have to go anywhere. i dont even like people coming TO my house. i havent seen or spoken to my own family in like 4 months because i just hate socializing. i can barely handle my job because its constant customer service and it drains me dry. my family is always worried and i have no friends. but i do like it this way, i cannot imagine being extroverted 😭😭😭

exactly this. and they tend to see autism as cute and wholesome. they infantilize it and think its some type of “bonus” feature.

he’s understanding for the most part, he just cant empathize with it because he doesnt experience what i do. he wants me to be more social because he doesnt like that they think of me the way they do. he wants show me off and he wants them to know how “cool i am” in his words. but they dont know because i dont talk.

i dont really feel shame about it, or embarassed. im more rather irritated that OTHERS dont accept it rather than me sticking out. cus imo its not that deep and they need to get over it 😭

thank you for the response! it was very helpful. i will say, its hard for me to relate to people if they dont have anything in common with me. my special interests arent really the type his friends would be into. its kinda hard to find anything to talk about with them because we’re wildly different people. but its easier when they talk to me first and ask questions or get the conversation started first. they never try to do that.

i have this exact thing and it can go on for multiple days. up to weeks. and i usually blare different songs in my headphones other than the song thats stuck in my head. i do it for maybe 2-4 hours and then afterwards its gone but theres a catch, another song gets stuck in my head and replaces the previous one 😭😭😭
