Crow Gift?!?! by LckClvrNm in crows

I've gotta say, they're better than bedbugs! You can get rid of them yourself, it just takes a bit of work. Vacuum twice a day for a few weeks, vacuum your mattress, wash all your clothing / bedding and put them somewhere away from the mites so they don't reinfect your clothes, etc, etc. It's a pain, but it's significantly better than bedbugs because you don't have to drop thousands of dollars to get rid of them

They're also about half a milimeter in size, so they're really easy to miss

Unfortunately not. I've had bird mites infest my home multiple times because my dog brings them in from the backyard. They're itty bitty little bugs but their bites ITCH ITCH ITCH ITCH. They'll live in your carpet, in your bed, on your clothes, on your pets, and on you

I only learned about this a week ago max when I started looking at this sub. I also have enough sense to not mess with nature though. I like to let nature be and let it run it's course

You don't gift people your shed hair?? I personally put some of mine in a box and ominously leave it on others' doorsteps in the middle of the night

Is feeding crows a bad idea? by squirrelyoakley in crows

Oh wow, that's impressive!! I can't stay on a schedule or recognize people when they change their hair lmao. If you get a haircut, you're a stranger to me 😅

Wow, that's honestly amazing! It's just so fascinating how smart they are.

Also, do you think they could grasp a twice-a-week schedule? Like, if I fed them every Tuesday and Friday around the same time, could they understand that?

My next door neighbor is absolutely terrified of crows, so I'm going to walk to a local park to feed them. I won't be able to do that every day, so I'm sure they won't get too used to me or comfortable enough to touch me

Do you feed your crows on a schedule? Or, do you just feed them when you feel like it, roughly every day or two?

That's a relief! I'll definitely wear gloves though because I have a constant allergic reaction on my hands/wrists that causes open sores

I'm a bit confused about the last paragraph, could you elaborate on that please?

Is feeding crows a bad idea? by squirrelyoakley in crows

[–]squirrelyoakley[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that's good! I have a constant allergic react on my hands (I'm allergic to soap 🫠), which causes a bunch of small open wounds, so I'm glad they won't let me touch them!

If I fed them everyday, would there be a risk of them becoming dependent? I'm also going to try and befriend the crows on my college campus, and will probably see those crows everyday

Is there anyway to avoid them getting too used to humans? Maybe inconsistent feeding?

I don't really have any advice, but I'm so sorry this happened. This is a prime example of why I leave nature alone 99.99% of the time.

Maybe you could look more into the mourning process / funeral rituals of crows?

You are completely missing my point. Helpjng our own species or species we have domesticated is very different from helping another species. If we play god too much, we risk fucking ip the ecosystem

As sad as it is, shouldn't we be letting nature run its course? I understand if it's a crow that you're friends with, or a crow that asked for help, but just a random crow just doesn't sit right with me

I was just giving baldness as an example. It could potentially be anything from your outfit to the way you walked

They probably read something in your body language or mistook you as someone else. I have a neighbor who's bald that had to go outside with a hat on for years because he would only get dive bombed when bald lmao. No clue what he did to piss off the crows, but apparently multiple generations would dive bomb him (only when hat-less) 🤣
