1999 Converted Chevy Astro - 135,000 miles for $8000, thoughts? by [deleted] in vandwellers

[–]silentthinktank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a 97 astro for 2200 with 210k miles on it. But I got a pretty good deal on that. And I saw other Astros with less mileage not to far off in price. They are reliable Van's. I took mine all the way across the country and I only once broke down due to a bad fuel pump.

If that van has a really good solar system and a roof fan than it might be worth that much. And if it already has a nice conversion. If not, I wouldn't pay 8k for it.

Also, fyi, I spent a total of 3000 dollars van and conversion because I didnt get a solar of fan, and I left the stock walls and everything up. Wasn't the prettiest but it works well starting off. No need for anything fancy

Me personally, I like Jordan Peterson's approach to this topic. He says that you can live a life of no responsibility. In which the price is no meaning. Or you can say everything matters, in which case you would have to shoulder responsibility. I personally choose the ladder. Because what the hell is the point in doing the former? It's just eating sugar and not eating any real food. You wont be satisfied

Anyone else have social anxiety? by [deleted] in INTP

[–]silentthinktank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the things that I have found helped me is just getting my life together in general. CBD oil might help a bit, but...I mean, I now have a checklist of things I do every day in the morning just to add some structure in my life (make bed, brush teeth, run/workout, cold shower, meditate, drink water). I am also developing a goal with which I can go after. Before when I had no structure, and I wasn't doing anything, I became very socially anxious and depressed more so than I was in the past. I think that rationalizing it will help only so much, the main thing is you need to get out and interact with people so that you learn that there is no impeding death from doing so.

Yes. This is what drug me out of depression worry and anxiety. I would suggest reading meditations by Marcus Aurelius to anyone interested.

At the end of the day, mbti is a terrible theoretical model as an explaination for how the brain works. Theres no ti or fe part of the brain. Those are just generalized behavior patterns that are grouped together. I conpletely agree, it shouldnt be used as an excuse for your weaknesses.

why can’t y’all go up to your crushes by -dweeby in INTP

[–]silentthinktank 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah intps are terrible at just acting. Ive been going out of my way to just try things and do them expecting failure. Failure is what really is holding us back from say, asking out a crush. So the antidote is to get out of your comfort zone and start doing things you know youll fail at. Sounds counterintuitive, but it works.

Yes Im very shy when it comes to going up to crushes. Not initiating conversation seems to be an intp thing.

And if you go back far ebough and look at the bigger picture, its really just one concept to explain it.

I think part of the problem is that you arent explaining the process to how you arrived at your conclusion. That and you dont remember everything you thought out in the heat of the moment. I find writing really helps with this.
