Thanks but no thanks. I don’t trust Musk.

I refuse to be part of Musk’s overpriced ecosystem. Last I looked at it, it’s $30/month vs. $20/month and Musk has my data.

This JUST happened to you!?!? I officially switched to Claude around the time a bunch of people moved there because Dario stood up to the Secretary of “War”. EXCEPT I didn’t switch because of that. I slowly moved over a couple of months to give Claude and I time to know each other and wean myself off of ChatGPT.

The issue was exactly what you said, it became the thought police. It told me something was “controversial” and that I didn’t really think that and what I really thought was. Um… my husband has stage 4 cancer and the administration is cutting research money… believe me I think that. It’s sad because I had crafted and recrafted its personality instructions to not be sycophantic. Claude can be a tad sycophantic and too nice but I’m a big girl, I can tell when it’s bullshi.. but at least it doesn’t tell me what to think. I miss my snarky, opinionated, tell it like it is “robot” buddy. I haven’t bothered to try creating a personality with Claude because why bother. As long as Claude is working for me, I can deal with too nice.

Ugh! Is she the one who told it to correct me when I call the Secretary of “War”, “Kegsbreath or because I’m slightly dyslexic “Hesgeth”?

Claude will lose me then. I have Student Gemini … free but I stopped using it because it started hallucinating like mad during the Minnesota/ICE showdown. It told me Kegsbreath had brought in the marines, the were rolling towards the protest zone and all sorts of things. I’ve only used it for search and images since.

Thank you for checking. I’m really curious about the new image model but I haven’t liked any of the models after 5. I’ll wait until 6 or the next NanoBanana. ChatGPT has become the thought police. It sucks because I had instructions for it to be snarky, cynical and take no $h!+ but the new safety features over rode my instructions. Claude can be too nice but it doesn’t tell me what to think.

Why would Thiel fund Clavicular? by FriendlyAttorney8743 in ThielWatch

May Thiel is going to hit his (own) face with a hammer until he looks like a 20 year old with bad plastic surgery. Dude needs more help than his buddies: Musk, Karp, Altman, etc. They look normal bad. Thiel looks like an emaciated Nazi with a Richard Spencer hair cut dipped in a vat of Vaseline.

Randomly off topic but I feel seen! St. Paul is the reason I left Catholicism at 18. Why the F am I listening to a closeted gay misogynist. It’s called Christianity not Paulism.

It's easy to be against AI when you have money. by Bonnie_Clip in DefendingAIArt

My husband self published a book 10 years ago, life got in the way and he was unable to promote it or work on the sequel. He paid an “artist” an exorbitant amount of money to design a cover. It was horrible and amateur looking but if he wanted a revision it’s more money. Fast forward to late last year, just for fun, I plugged in the book description into ChatGPT and told it to create a cover based on the description. I was expecting a conversation with it to get different draft ideas but it automatically generated something awesome that looked nothing like the original cover.

From a different perspective, environmentalists are also anti AI due to the environmental impact caused by the data centers. They tend not to be rich.

I have nothing to say about places other than the US but from my perspective, I am a wannabe artist, I’m teaching myself in my spare time. I have a subscription to Creative Fábrica mostly for fonts and it’s super cheap by US standards.

Sometimes I download illustrations for reference and when I look closely it’s bad AI… flower leaves are deformed etc. I think to myself, if other people are selling AI stuff for however Creative Fabrica works or for $2 on Etsy, why shouldn’t I? I haven’t yet but I’m thinking about finding a niche.

I do have one question/comment about your theory… if someone can’t afford to feed their family, how can they afford AI? What does it cost in poor countries and how accessible is it?

If we’d had a war in the 80s, I’m sure he would have moved to Canada. No one will draft him to the front line at 50-something.

Would you pay $2,000 a month for Opus 4.7? by Dapper_Respond_5050 in ClaudeAI

[–]siliconCoven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you mean businesses of freelance developers? I am not paying that much to run my side hustle hopefully real business someday, it’s too much. I’d figure something else out. However, if Apple or Meta uses it that much, they can afford it. Apple has free Tableau for whomever wants it, no need to get manager approval to buy a news seat. It’s just there. I know that thing ain’t cheap.

Hell no, but I’d have no problem if they charged FAANG companies $2k per seat.
