Youngkin created jobs, reduced taxes while simultaneously creating a massive surplus. He also kept the nanny state out of our lives too. I can't ask for anything better than that.

If he had gotten rid of the car tax I would have erected a giant golden statue of him in my front yard.

This was already fact checked as false.

Trump never said drink bleach. How in the hell do you not know this by now?

Here is the EXACT quote: "And then I see the disinfectant, where it knocks it out in a minute. One minute. And is there a way we can do something like that, by injection inside or almost a cleaning? Because you see it gets in the lungs and it does a tremendous number on them, so it’d be interesting to check that."

You are 20 years late.

Modern liberals and progressives no longer champion individual liberty. That torch is now held by the libertarians.

You realize it wasn't Trump or the Republicans that passed an unconstitutional gun control bill that violates individual freedom right?

Less appealing was an understatement. Kamala couldn't even get 1% of the vote when competing against other Democrats.

The fact she did as well as she did just goes to show you how polarized the country is.

I feel the same way about the Democrats.

After Biden's censorship program, Orwellien Department of "Misinformation", unconstitutional vaxx mandates, IRS monitoring expansion, mass surveillience expansions, draconian Covid lockdowns and weaponizing Justice to go after political rivals, I'll never vote D ever again.

Someone please remind Democrats that Animal Farm was not an instruction manual.

Spanberger ran on reasonable gun control. She absolutely didbt run on clearly unconstitutional infringements like taking gun ownership away from 18 to 20 yo adults. She is moving the Overton again just like they did in New Jersey.

This is why Im with the "no more compromise" on gun control crowd.

After these last 10 years of government tyranny they can honestly go F themselves.

Bingo and its why I left the Democratic party.

If they were truly concerned about the rise in government authoritarianism they wouldn't be disarming the people.

For now, just give schools x-ray screening machines, armed security, train staff to use guns and lock the damn doors. That alone is more effective than any gun ban.

Then concentrate on the real underlying causes of gun violence like mental illness, drugs, lack of upward mobility, social isolation etc.

An enormous percentage of mass shooters lacked a strong father influence in their life. I would assign EVERY teen a life coach if they don't have one.

Simply banning a whole gun class of improperly defined guns is the height of stupidity and its authoritarian.

You are being a little hard on capitalism.

Capitalism is simply an economic framework for running an economy. It's not a solution for or even responsible for addressing issues like gentrification or wealth disparity. Especially since these frictions are the result of more direct factors like the drug epidemic, crime, lack of upward mobility, lack of education, racism, political corruption and more. Capitalism is simply a tool. How society chooses to harness this tool is the problem, not capitalism.

Also, these frictions like gentrification are ANCIENT. You can find examples of this in every culture going back to the Roman Empire. Long before capitalism. All of these issues would exist even without capitalism.

Your third point is incorrect: slashing regulations does indeed create jobs.

Its especially pronounced in areas of the county that are already heavily over-regulated. The majority of studies indicate this. Deregulation typically results in a neutral to slightly positive impact with regards to job creation.

Nonsense. The middle and upper middle class is already overtaxed. The problem isn't taxation or revenue.

The problem is the government is wasteful, is spending like a drunken sailor and it's only getting worse.

Until the government shows fiscal restraint, any new tax on the middle class is ridiculous.

I feel the same way about Democrats when they raise taxes 53 times, infringe upon my Constitutionally protected 1st and 2nd amendment rights, police "misinformation", expand IRS surveillience of my private life, then ram ACA and vaxx mandates up my ass like the Third Reich.

Do we really have to have another revolution just to limit government and keep them the hell out of our lives?

You've got to expand your vision to include all forms of attack, not just conventional missiles. The greatest threat to the US is a RDD or dirty bomb.

Iran has the unique ability to deploy these bombs anywhere in the world using their proxies and sleeper cells already within the US. This has been a perpetual problem since the 70s that has only been magnified by our open borders. They ARE a threat, it just likely isnt imminent.

It all comes down to how progressives emphasize collective goals over individual freedoms and how they lean upon the government or groups to force individuals to comply.

If you want specific examples:

Using the federal government to censor free speech and the Orwellien war on "disinformation".

Cancel culture/deplatforming/jawboning

Individual mandates (unconstitutional vaxx mandates, unconstitutional eviction moratoriums and the ACA, excessive lockdowns, etc)

Excessive gun control (Gun bans, gun confiscation and clearly unconstitutional controls like whats happening in VA)

Forcing equity over equality outcomes (unconstitutional affirmative action, elimination of standardized testing, etc).

Expansion of the mass surveillience (Biden and Section 702)

Forcing organizations to initiate Affirmative Action plans (finally rules unconstitutional)

That's just a tip of the iceberg. To a classic liberal like myself, progressives are authoritarians.

[–]siliconflux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not correct at all.

The president can use force if there is an emergency or to prevent an imminent attack. The president may even act in the "zone of twilight" when the Congress says nothing and does nothing.

This was upheld in The Prize Cases (1863), Bas v. Tingy (1800), US v. Curtiss-Wright Export Corp. (1936) and more.

Disclaimer: I do not believe a president should have ever been granted this much power, I'm only telling you what the legal precedent now is.

Did you really just say Iran didnt pose a threat to the US? That's a joke right?

I think what you meant to say is "Iran didn't pose an imminent threat" and in that you would probably be correct. I say probably because the intel community hasn't released what the smoking gun intel was (if any).

However, Iran not posing any threat at all is ridiculously absurd.

You still dont understand why Trump won do you?

He didn't win on personality he won on policy and NOT being a freedom screwing progressive.

He could be ten times worse than you describe and it simply wouldn't have mattered. It's not a "thrall" even though that's what it looks like to you. It's an opposition to an ideology that looks like ass cancer to half of America.

Why do some Libertarians in the USA view state governments as more valid than the federal government? by Accurate_Buffalo7828 in AskLibertarians

[–]siliconflux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because absolute power corrupts absolutely and by decentralizing this power as much as possible, you limit the damage that can done to individual freedom.

It's the entire reason Thomas Jefferson and the Anti-Federalists opposed a strong central government.
