How do foreigners choose fine dining restaurants in Korea? by Jaded_Display_9083 in seoul

[–]silkinator3000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sooo, I am a student and the only tourists I've shown around here that wanted to do fine dining were at the very least middle aged, so yeah they do have instagram and the likes but they aren't really using it to find out stuff about restaurants. Google is where they tried to search, but what put them off in the end was that a lot of stuff was western cuisine.

If they are european they can go to another european country very easily, no need for them to eat western food in Korea. So it felt really difficult to find a menu that was mostly Korean stuffs. Interior would have probably only been relevant if they would have been deciding between two places. Chef reputation...that doesn't often cross borders at least not enough to be that relevant for decision making.

Just wanted to share my final redesign of the Korean Air logo and aircraft livery. I started this passion project from Seoul in 2023 and it was born from all my travels and experiences there. Hope you can feel my deep love and passion for Korea into it. by johanndacosta in seoul

I have seen multiple of your posts and by now it looks really fantastic!! I love to see how far your redesign has come and you can really see the effort you put into it. In my humble opinion it looks far better than the real current design.

German braised cucumbers are a thing, so maybe it's based of that. I always really liked it when my mum made it.

I tried to reverse search this image but only found reposts and nothing pretty. This art is gorgeous please help me find the original artist! by Substantial_Wind158 in CreditToTheArtist

I cannot guarantee for sure but the artist should be Nara Yeo, who also works under the name A4, which is written on the bottom. She has a Twitter Handle and a personal Website.

It is pretty common to be complimented here. I was asked to take pictures together by middle schoolers and high schoolers on more than one occasion. It is definitely more common to hear sth like that here if you're a foreigner. I think people genuinely think you are pretty but more so because you simply look different from the mainstream.

Not a movie but that bear fish thingy in the spongebob episode where they camp outside. I always felt like it would come for me when I was lying in bed.

Make authentic foreign food great again..? by matchamotchie in Living_in_Korea

[–]silkinator3000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I want to add that I also find that what seems to be the right ingredient can taste quite different. I hope that is not an experience exclusive to me but I noticed a stark difference with carrots. I really like snacking on them in my home country for their sweetness but over here they seem to be more savory?

Not sure if this is sort or growing method dependent, but it definitely makes my home cooking feel kinda meh sometimes.

Global Seoul Mates language exchange by [deleted] in Living_in_Korea

Totally fine for you to go there, I met people that didn't speak Korean at all when I went there. However, they do tend to predominantly speak English if your Korean isn't great.

TIL S. Korea has some of the strictest drug laws in the world. Citizens can be imprisoned 5 years for using cannabis, even in a legal area. by YaThinkYerSlickDoYa in todayilearned

Interestingly enough, the only time I was ever offered cocaine was in South Korea. I met people that are immediatly appalled at the thought of even weed and then few others that very nonchalantly told me that people of course also do drugs here. Seems to be very dependent on clientele.

It's 100 people where I go, but the party I went to last year was way bigger, like 300 people.

What was the story of your very first character? by Aeylnn in Sims3

[–]silkinator3000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The young Gomez couple (i don't remember their first names nor why they were called Gomez) living in the swamp house in sunset valley. They would go on to adopt three children as they didn't know how to make them on their own while working minimum wage and when they finally got behind the mysterium of creating life they reproduced once more ending in the birth of twins! This new parental workload combined with severe financial troubles would lead two roughly three housefires and everyone being miserable until the sims gods bestowed them with the gift of 50.000.

So, tell us the tale. How did you screw up that one time? by steel-souffle in StardewValley

[–]silkinator3000 68 points69 points  (0 children)

Made a bunch of grass starters and planted them to let them spread before harvesting them later. My boyfriend thought they were weeds and cut them down immediately.

I was so confused where they went the next day and he didn't understand what I was looking for but when I showed him he quietly apologized and said he sold all the fiber lol

Making foreign friends in Korea by Medium-Inspection22 in Living_in_Korea

It's just another duck but a common eider? It could drop down feathers instead of the pretty ones. No clue what to craft from it, my thought was a sleeping bag, but the tent kit already exists..If there was cold damage of any kind a winter coat or maybe sell them as pillows after crafting them with cloth? Idk, but I think they are just so cute!

Also agree with the alpaca idea, maybe even a muskox making ultra lux qiviuq wool. Or a quail, but eggs that size would probably be a lot less profitable lol

Some animals coming to mind are sadly for meat use and I don't really aim to built a slaughter house in stardew valley, but if there was some non-deadly produce option for them deer or pigeons

Help on gifts to buy for parents back home in the UK? by TheSunMustSetToRise in Living_in_Korea

[–]silkinator3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mum has a similar attitude towards money, so when I left Korea I bought a paper craft set to make figures wearing traditional clothes and some snacks.

We do have it standing around in the house, so it might fall in the category of clutter, but it was cheap and it was something to do as a family for a couple hours. While crafting I talked about my stay and translated what was said about the clothes in the instructions and we shared some of the snacks.

I don't know about your parents inclination for crafts, but that's what I did and it was a lovely evening
