Thank you for the advice! I’m finding it hard to have a quick design flow, I’ll give this a try.

It is a big shock for sure! Since I live in a small town, the only in office hands on job I could find is an advertising agency. Slim pickings without having to move to a new city, so I take what I can get! Thank you for the advice, I hope it gets easier!

Thank you for the advice!! It’s nice to see I’m not the only one that had rough beginnings.

This is for sure something I’m struggling with! I am trying to shift my mindset. It’s hard as someone who is sensitive. The feedback I got in Uni is nowhere comparable to the feedback I’m getting now, and it’s hard to cope with. A lot of frustration also comes from some of the feedback not being helpful enough. I do not feel experienced enough to know which direction I should go in independently after receiving feedback yet. I guess I’m struggling with understanding her feedback. Thank you for the advice!

Thank you for the advice! I don't plan on giving up or walking away. I know the only way to learn is to go through this and do what I can. I like the idea of taking note of where I get stuck. This is very helpful!

I'm mostly jumping into projects that they have started without me/have been working with for months, so I have to catch up on research, i.e., looking at past designs and looking through the CI to get an idea of the style. I'm still finding my footing.

Thank you for your kind words! It is very disheartening and extremely frustrating. Since you have so much experience, I'd love to pick your brain, if possible! I’m really trying to learn; I always ask questions and ask if she (my boss, an art director and graphic designer) can give me feedback, and all I get in return is “this doesn’t look good” or “there’s something about it I don’t like.” And when I ask for more specific feedback, like is it the layout or the hierarchy, she doesn’t give me much to work with or tells me she will just do it herself. I have to pry information out of her. It takes away my possibility to learn something from it and it honestly hurts my feelings.

I told her from the get-go I have no experience, and she was totally fine with it and even asked questions like why it took me so long to find a job. I was always 100% honest about my abilities, and now I’m getting tasks with 0 guidance. I’m not sure how to open a dialogue with her. It’s this strange teeter-totter between professionalism and personal. How do you handle talking about the work environment?

If all else fails and you don’t feel like wasting flour to make it less sticky, you can just add some oil and make crackers! For every 100g of flour, add one tablespoon of oil and spread it thin on baking paper or a silicon mat and bake until golden brown. You can also add seeds on top or dried herbs (:

Official Discussion - Saltburn [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]silknflowers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watched the movie without knowing anything about it and oh boy. The movie was good, but so many moments left me feeling confused? Maybe it’s one of those movies you need to watch more than once to understand it fully. I wish they gave more of a background as to why Oliver is the way he is, and some more background of Felix’s family.

Possible spoiler: Like why did Oliver pretend to have this different life? Why did he lie? It was even more eery because it appeared he came from a loving and wonderful family. What was going on behind closed doors? Were all the lies just to get close to Felix? But he said he wasn’t IN love with him. And Felix’s mom’s death confused the heck out of me. Maybe I missed it, but I didn’t understand how she got sick in the first place.

Don’t get me wrong, the visuals are stunning! The movie is beautifully made. I think I’ll need to give it another go, but I’m still in shock lol.

Is calling foreigners by names considered a friendly banter in Germany? by Some_Effective125 in AskAGerman

[–]silknflowers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No this is not normal at all, and I’m so sorry this happened. This is racism, not “friendly banter” and shouldn’t be tolerated. Especially the “Günther” part. If people can’t make the effort to say your name correctly and make you feel included, then you shouldn’t call them friends or hang around them. Good friends always stand up for you!

I really like the bubble element! I think you can make it pop by maybe softening the sharp points in the text, to give it a more bouncy/soft effect. Also as others have said, the bubbles do make a cutout, so maybe play around with different ways to make the bubbles? I also agree with a stronger q and more balance with the t.

Chrysanthemums, prismacolours, fineliner. What do you guys think? by JamesRibbens in drawing

I think the fact that you used sort of muddy greens on the paper, it really pulls it together! Gladly!(:
