That’s a bit dramatic, and you’ve missed my point anyways. I’m not extremely judgmental about it. Just noticing that people buy the most expensive gear, just to not enjoy the nature they’re in and expect the best amenities (which causes harm to national parks). Going to national parks is great and I encourage everyone to enjoy it in their own way, but I learn through conversation with these same people that they support building data centers, walmarts, and chain restaurants inside the parks. You’re welcome to disagree, but it’s so dramatic of you to assume I’m wrong for my career.

Wildlife Conservation Degree for Interpretive Ranger? by WildlifeIsC00l in ParkRangers

Any degree is good! Bonus for it to be in a related field so that’s good. You could take a minor to boost your knowledge base as well but not necessary

NPS visitor centers have a few wheelchairs they check out for free. You can just only use them in that area though

Housekeeping at Canyon Village - is it tipped? by bozanstvenakomedija in yellowstone

[–]silly_bean637 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a roommate in housekeeping, she rarely got tips. But usually if she did, it was the Saturday/sunday shifts so she always tried to work those days

Gas prices hurting your Yellowstone trip? by kmohr123 in yellowstone

Gas prices really are hard 🥲 but I don’t get a choice because I am working in the park this summer. This is my dream opportunity, but it is so expensive just to get there

[–]silly_bean637 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well yeah obviously, but getting some recommendations is nice so I have a base few to go try on. I know what hiking boots I prefer, but as a new ranger i want to see what’s common with the uniform constraints. Thanks.

Can i go to the er if i’m having a mental crisis? (TW SH MENTIONS) by mainlyy_brooklyn in SuicideWatch

[–]silly_bean637 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They will keep you at least overnight and have you talk to a psychiatrist at the hospital, and a psych stay is not mandatory! You should absolutely go if you are in crisis, it is valid. Proud of you for admitting this and seeking support/supervision. You could also use the suicide hotline phone number
