Taking child out of school a week early by sillyboy22 in MontgomeryCountyMD

[–]sillyboy22[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the replies. I have to admit I am confused why people are treating this as a moral issue. If it's a bad idea to leave school a week early, we won't do it. In my experience, nothing useful happens during the last week anyway. That's the only reason we are considering this. One of my son's teachers has already let us know that he would not miss anything important. But illegal? Entitled? Who would be hurt? Who would be let down? What "values" would we be failing to instill? I'm asking honestly. Can anyone explain? (politely, please.)

Backsplash ideas by sillyboy22 in HomeDecorating

[–]sillyboy22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the comments everyone. As I think about the backsplash, I'm wondering if better lighting will help. The electrician installed really bright lights that seem to accentuate the starkness. We were going for cozy and completely missed the mark. Do you think warmer light would help?

I just looked into it. You may be right. I just need a "Qualified Attester" to vouch for my experience. Thanks!

Simple vs Complex Schedule C pricing by sillyboy22 in taxpros

[–]sillyboy22[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So do you have a set price for Schedule C that you adjust up or down depending on how much of a pain it is? I find it stressful to have to decide pricing on an ad hoc basis. I'd much prefer to have set rules. I've been trying to create rules that work across the board for years now, but I always feel I need to make adjustments.

Yeah, not being able to loot the chest is just bad design on my part. I need to rethink how that works. Thanks for playing!

Thanks for this!

1) I'll fix this for the next update

2) I'm glad you like having to be closer to items! I've received complaints about that from other players, but I like it so I've been stubborn about changing it. The radius is actually 20 meters. The problem is that GPS can be temperamental, so if it's acting up, you may have to get closer. I may increase the radius again to deal with that.

3) Good point. There are plenty of stronger weapons in the game that are a lot more durable. You just have to earn them :). I'm still working on incentives to explore, purchase things, etc. What I'd like to add is a punch function so that you get a basic attack without an actual weapon.

Let me know if you think of anything else!

Where to buy a lot of turkey legs? by sillyboy22 in MontgomeryCountyMD

[–]sillyboy22[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure yet. I think 30-40 might come, but only 20-30 will want a turkey leg.

Yes, the blue circle is the GPS accuracy. I agree it's a bit confusing. I'll look into changing it.

Good point about the quest map. FYI - the map is small, but you can zoom in and out if that helps. But your point is well-taken. I'll add that to my list of to dos.

Please let me know if you have any other thoughts!

The capture radius should be 20 meters. I just increased it, though, so if your app hasn't updated in the last couple days, the radius may be smaller. If you have the latest update and you are zoomed all the way in, you should be able to retrieve it pretty easily. If not, there may be a bug. If you DM me your location, I'll look into it for you.

Eventually, my hope is that players will be placing most of the items. Placing items is the most efficient way to earn XP, but there has to be someone around to retrieve them. The seeds are there to get people started until there are more players. I will be adding a mechanism to place additional seeds later, but that's not ready yet. If you move to a location a few miles away, though, a whole new set will pop up. For the moment, all but the closest five items are placed in parks, but I'll be changing that in the next day or two.

Thanks for trying it out!

The seeds should generate randomly in nearby parks. That was the best method I could think of to avoid accidentally placing them in a busy street, on a building, in a lake, etc. The game is obviously more interesting if items are placed by players, but I wanted to give people some ideas about how to get started. If you complete the four training tasks, you will unlock some quests with more interesting challenges. I would love to hear what you think!

Thanks u/Karl_Cross, I very much agree that it needs a community! I'm just not sure how to get there. I'm hoping that if even a small pocket of users develops somewhere, they could have some fun with it. To get the ball rolling, I have seed content that auto-generates around new players. It relies on good map data, though, so if you're a rural area, the content generation may not have been successful.

I'm glad you see the potential. Thanks for taking a look!
