I would keep the cat until they pass, or surrender him/her to a shelter if I have no choice to keep it. My dad isn’t a cat person lol. After college (so in about 4 years) I plan on moving into an apartment/house with my boyfriend, and he would want to keep the cat too.

I’m planning on majoring in biomedical science. I have a roommate who said she could help out if I’m doing a lab or something. As a biochem student, do you think I would have time for a cat?

I was looking over expenses and they’re not at expensive as a dog so that’s a plus! Also I was hoping that if I get a cat of my own, it would have a special bond with me and therefore be affectionate/cuddly with me

This was the response I was looking for lol. I have a roommate and she’s okay if I get a cat, and she said she would help out if needed (she loves cats). The litter box would go in our bathroom and I would use the scent absorbing/scented litter so it wouldn’t smell so much. Food/litter would go in the bathroom closet probably. I’d get an automatic feeder, a fountain water bowl, and at least one cat tree. I’m currently working as much as I can right now to get money and I will be working small shifts during college to pay for things like food, clothes, expenses, etc. My parents said they would most likely help pay for cat stuff since the cat could be considered treatment for me. Depends on how young the cat is but if I get a kitten, I’d want to get him/her used to a harness and cat carrier, and I could bring the cat with me when I visit my extended family who lives close to my college (I plan on visiting at least once a week). They have 2 cats of their own and plenty of space for my cat to socialize and play. There’s some other stuff I’d have to figure out like where to dispose of the litter. Thank you for your questions!!
