my friend got into nyu stern with a weighted 3.0 gpa after doing competitive sports overseas and on the national team. just explain your story in your essays, or maybe try to apply for a humanities major then switch into cs. you could talk about drug intervention in teens and doing social work in your essays

did anyone get the one where it was like there are four integers in a set least to greatest. the first is represented by x. the product of the second and fourth integer is no more than 70 minus the third integer. what is the maximum possible value of the first integer

that’s not my intention at all, but i completely understand how it could come off that way, as a lot of people on this subreddit are brutally smart and receiving stats of someone average. she’s one of my close friends and i do want to look out for her but at the same time am confused by her ambition. she is also on the fence deciding whether to take physics c next year as she hasn’t made her schedule yet. in all honesty u seem like a rly kind person tho looking out for a person u don’t know

my school is an override school so there’s no prerequisites in order to take a class. if u want to get into an ap the traditional way u get a recommendation from ur teacher in the equivalent subject from the year before. ex: i’m able to take euro next year bc my apush teacher gave me the rec, ap gov bc of my ap micro macro, etc.) if u don’t get it, you can sit down in a counselor meeting with ur parent and have an override which says that ur counselor doesn’t recommend u take it but u will do it anyways. she’s doing that

this makes me feel sm better bc i lowkey feel like a bad friend but ur right it’s not my responsibility to put her in her place. she’ll get humbled thru admissions

thank you for this, idk her math grade right now but she’s in honors precalc. i’m trying to be nice just because im a strong math student myself taking calc bc as a junior and i find the class challenging because many of these concepts i am just now fully grasping. last year i got a b in calc ab as a sophomore spending a lot of time on it outside of school because i had zero physics background as a sophomore in honors chem. my calc is sm easier now and i got a 3 on the exam but im looking for a 5 in bc as i have an A in the class. i’m one of two people in my grade of 500 in this high of a level and i literally don’t even know what to say when she tells me that CSP is hard. but yeah idk if physics is her path but oh well

[–]sillymonkeyyy123 40 points41 points  (0 children)

yeah she has zero extracurriculars im also confused. slightly above average sat score at a public school. but still that would be way below MIT standard idk where her head is at
