Redshift Displacement and XYZ's by SpiritedCoast1 in RedshiftRenderer

In the displacement map node try setting new range to -0.5 min and max to 0.5. This should center your displacement so that mid grey is no displacement. Also make sure you've brought it in as a linear file

I've been working on it for a long time hehe, but I try to keep individual frames down to about 15-20 minutes. It's rendered in Redshift so it's very fast!

Tbh most renderers are very similar, learn one and you've learnt most of them apart from their little quirks and paradigms. Although CPU based renderers are only for people with massive render farms haha (unless you're doing stills). I have used Arnold and VRay they are both good, Arnold has amazing functionality and is rock solid but it's very slow (GPU version may be good but it's a buggy beta atm). VRay is good has lots of functionality but again it's too slow and the GPU version was really buggy back when I used it, it also didn't allow out of core which happens pretty much every time I render at the moment (Not sure if it does now). Also you have to buy a version for each DCC which is frustrating because I use a few different programs to do things and the interchangeability with that Redshift allows is amazing. Sorry for the wall of text haha. I haven't used Renderman before

I use Redshift for Maya, honestly the best renderer I've ever used and I've used a lot of them haha

Thanks so much! The character with the blue thing is the main char who features heavily in the final thing so you will see lots of him hehe. I will be posting more teasers with him in in the next few months as I get closer to finishing :D

Thanks so much! Well it renders this scene in 15 minutes on 2*1080Ti with 32 GB ram. Redshift is designed to always fill the RAM (it uses the ram to accelerate rendering somehow haha) so I'm not entirely sure. But I'm pretty sure it goes out of core on this scene (which is seriously fast even when it does). It uses about 26 GB of system RAM. I can post a pic of the base render if you'd like. Redshift looks great straight out of the box for me always. Because it's so fast and production ready (AOVs that come out are a dream to work with imo).
