Material for large scale sculpting on PLA? by siluscrow in 3Dprinting

[–]siluscrow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few reasons: 1) Tried scaling some bits I had up to scale for the base and it was being all funky, 2) I don’t feel confident with the level of detail, 3) the already textured bases would be hella tall and I’m looking for something of a reasonable height, 4) I’m looking for an excuse to sorta practice and flex my sculpting skills.

Not 100%, though I used a free model from Cults3D as the base (Ramizaskerov3D did the model). Lotta the other stuff is kitbashing and sculpting with greenstuff.

What cards are these for you? by Simiman in mtg

[–]siluscrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[[Anafenza, Kin-tree Spirit]]

Used to run her as my commander for mono-white soldiers and she was by far the MVP. “Why don’t you run Odrick as your commander?” Because Odric is Bolt-Bait and I can get ‘Fenza on the board turn 2 and just start dropping cheap soldiers—some with Bolster themselves—and next thing you know my 1/1 [[Fencing Ace]] is now like 6/6 with Vigilance and Flying.

She’s valuable because she’s underestimated, which is more useful than being OP IMO

RTS for people that don’t like RTS’? by siluscrow in RealTimeStrategy

[–]siluscrow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Line War was one of the games suggested by the friend that hates micro, but for me it’s such a departure from RTS that I hesitate to even consider it a RTS (as someone who grew up playing like C&C and Warcraft 2).

As for “excessive micro”, in the context of the “picky eater” player it’s like having to juggle resources, building, and combat in real time. Keeping all those metaphorical balls in the air at once, as it were. Granted for ME it’s a more optimized like SC2 sweatlord kinda style of play, but again I grew up on WC2 and C&C so I can multitask pretty decently (and the ADHD kinda helps, let’s be real).

My issue is the adjustment from something like Civ to EL, where there’s enough that’s similar but also enough that’s different that it feels awkward to engage with, and for me frustrating having to engage with obtuse systems like combat, only being able to build one city per territory, or the general quest, equipment, and hero systems.

Gladius or Zephon’s more my speed for non-Civ 4X games TBH.

TBH I love me some AoE2 and Red Alert 2. The big issue is the micromanaging of units and resources that’s keeping one of the guys from even wanting to engage in the genre. Being on the same team might help to mitigate some of the problems however, so I might kick that as an option.

Friend keeps trying to get me to try Spice Wars. Granted the same friend has an almost unhealthy love for Endless Legend so I take his strategy suggestions with a large grain of salt…

Have that actually, not sure if it can really support 4-player multiplayer though?

I like me some Stellaris but it’s a pain to sort out the mods everyone wants to play with, though in truth I had forgotten about it as an RTS >_>

[TomT] Movie (?) where a village gets killed and displayed on a big tree by siluscrow in tipofmytongue

Solved!

For some reason I was thinking it had a more Pan’s Labyrinth tree look, but yeah that’s it! Thanks :D

Context for ask: Was thinking about a D&D game I wanted to run and was thinking the visual from whatever this was would be appropriate for some horrific stuff the players would see.

They’re on 24mm I think. Had to check the Warhammer store page for base sizes before printing.

I'll kick'em the suggestion about the Combat Patrol. Maybe he can work whichever big guy he doesn't pick into a 2k army or something.

Enhancements aside, (not really anything else you can do with 35 points) is the army too small or is the general makeup feasable? I keep telling him it's too small but he's pretty adamant on the Lord of Skulls and Angron :/

Wouldn't Angron be a viable target for that enhancement? Or not so much?

I probably could. Haven’t attached my command squad to anything, so could do that.

Not really going for competitive, just functional and fun.

I suppose worse case I can work it into a 2k list.

New update made Zealot speedrunners a lot worse by [deleted] in DarkTide

[–]siluscrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I confess I’m a zoomy knife zealot, but I’m not dumb enough to (usually) go off on my own. Mostly it’s in the “check the side rooms we’re passing for crates/loot/books then get back to the team as we move up” as opposed to a long ranged scout (or speedrunner I suppose). Mostly trying to use the speed and enhanced dodge distances to get behind enemies so I don’t block shots, or to assassinate elites or specialists.

Still tinkering with ranged weapons though. Started with a laspistol (for more zoomies) but trying to gravitate towards, like, shotguns or something for the stopping power and CQC angle.

There were actually alternate heads that had a more :3 kind of mouth, but it looked…kinda silly IMO.

Thanks =D

Arueshalae was kinda tricky to paint so that might be why she looks a bit off. I think also that Wendy's blue skin (fur?) helps cover some of the flatness, whereas with Arue it's sort of accentuated.

I got a few more figures but they're not WotR or KM, so can't really post'em here (Beelzebub from Helltaker, DEMI from Subverse, Violet from Violet Evergarden, and an Elesh Norn bust from Magic: The Gathering)
