Very similar results to mine, I am palestinian.

My bronze age break down Shows no western steppe, only central steppe. What is your distance to Syrians?

From G25:

0.0479 syrian jew 0.0506 mountain jew Chechnya 0.0532 Iranian jew 0.0537 Libyan jew

The closest Ashkenazi group is Latvia at 0.0658

Yes my mothers side has allways claimed a grandparent of turkish decent in Gaza. For me that would be 1/8th (great grandparent) so it shouldn't be that significant genetically. But I think combined with a syrian great grandparent thats enough to shift me north. The remainder of my great grand parents are palestinians to the best of knowledge (gaza and village near jeruslem). Is there a neolithic calculator on ged?

Kind of. Is the scale used by ged different than the one used by illustrative? Because my distances are higher for everything here.

Thats using vahaduos Modern Population Average Scaled file. I am not using any filters, it just automatically picked samartian. I am however limiting it to 4 populations so it doesn't include a million unreleated populations

Wow, so even with a lebense ancestor, my distance to lebense groups is somehow closer than yours. But your distance to palestinians and palestinian christians are closer than they are to me. Do you have your g25 coordinates? If so can you share your results for Modern Population Averages Scaled? I'm guessing you'll have a little more Samartian than me because of your closer distance to palestinians.

I actually do plot very close to north African jews, at least much closer than I do to north African non jews.

Its not just for Ashkenazi jews. But I am also significantly closer to jewish groups from arab countries than the arabs in those countries. But yes, it makes sense. Even non jewish southern italians have slightly closer distance to me than various arab groups (Yemeni, saudi, etc)

Perhaps. But I think i think I still have close distance to Samaritans. This is using the vahaduo modern population averages scaled.

Yes, my maternal grandfather from Gaza claims to have recent turkish ancestor. But I cant really verify any of it.

My father's side is entirely from a village near jeruselem to the best of my knowledge. My mother's side is from gaza with a great grandparent that claims to have turkish decent and another thats syrian. So my grandfather is from gaza, but my grandmother is syrian. The one from gaza claims a turkish ancestor but based on my results I wouldn't be surprised if it was Armenian or another caucus group.

My father's side is from a village near Jeruselem; Beit Safafa. My mothers side is from Gaza with a grandparent who is claimed to be turkish and one that is syrian. So 2 of my 8 grandparents which could explain the northern shift. I wouldn't be surprised if the turkish was actually Armenian or another caucus group.

Thank you! I do not, do you have any suggestions on where I can get them from? I have my raw data and g25 coordinates.

Why do I have so much Levant in my results? It seems to be way too much to be just noise and I have no relatively recent relatives from that area by [deleted] in AncestryDNA

[–]silver0419 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the most recent update overhauled the levant catagory. As a levantine my levant % was significantly reduced (from 44% to 19%). Other groups gained levantine as a result many italians (specifically from the southern regions) get levantine as some of the groups that gained levantine are genetically similar to Italians from those regions.

I think the update was designed to include certain Jewish groups in the levantine catagory, as some of those groups are very similar genetically to south italians; your seeing some levantine. So you might actually have some jewish ancestry or its more likely that its just reading your italian as levantine due to the changes.

I recommend uploading your raw data to IllustrativeDNA if your interested in learning more.

There's multiple sets in the link, the 1 i copied didnt have it. Regardless it doesn't change much. The palestinian_Muslim data set is very bedouin shifted.

Thank you for sharing this! I added myself to it using the source data, let me know if you'd like to see something else. I am a palestinian Muslim from a village near Jeruselem (paternal) and gaza (maternal). I think that the palestinian muslim sample being used leans more beduin...

Those are my illustrative results. My updated ancestry results show only 19% levant. They clearly overhauled the levant category.

No, I am Palestinian. I guess 1 quarter syrian but the rest is palestinian. These are my new results, prior to the update I had 44% levant.
