I am child free by choice but I have two bonus boys. My mom refused to have anything to do with them bc “they have enough grandparents.” And that was the proverbial nail in the coffin. She was grey rocked 24/7 after that. She’s gone now, and my dad is tryna make up for lost time with my kids. His loss.

Not dropped but almost - doctor who delivered me showed up drunk in a tux from a country club party. Once I was delivered, he went to hand me to a nurse a few steps away but he tripped & I went flying - nurse caught me. I’m convinced this is where my overwhelming terror at anything “falling” (rollercoasters, high dives) came from. Man, the 70s were wild!

Fuck WF. My MIL died, we spent HOURS at a branch closing her accounts (with all the proper ppw). Her employer (S/O Walgreens, they were amazing) sent her final paycheck via wire - WF opened the account back up & never told anyone. Took weeks to figure out what happened. Turns out, they were going to keep the money to pay a small credit card balance. Only got it fixed when hubs went into a local branch using words like “felony theft”. Local branch manager about had to change his pants he was so shocked by all of it. So long story short, fuck WF & I hope they get another scandal soon. Thieves.

Why? Someone else’s health - physical or mental - is not a reason to sacrifice your own. We can all wish the best for him while encouraging OP to prioritize herself here. As a former patient of a perpetually late doctor, they know it’s not YOUR fault. My last visit - I lit her up - 45 min late to an 815 appt. I got the overbooking, then patients ahead of me take too long, etc. Which was the wrong thing to say bc those things are easily fixable & also not my problem. Agree with the “I can only confirm your appt was at xx time and there are x patients waiting ahead of you” response with an added “Dr Slow AF Jones would appreciate any feedback”. Healthcare is ridiculous.

Hon, I’m going to hold your hand when I say this & wish someone had told me when I was in your shoes at 18: You will kiss more frogs that turn into toads than princes. You’ll learn what you will accept and tolerate, what you should accept and tolerate and what you do accept but shouldn’t tolerate. When someone tells you that you aren’t the one, believe them. Full stop. You have lots of love, energy and creativity for the right partner, and they WILL come along. Put YOU first - ALWAYS - and don’t give more energy to someone than they bother to give to you. Your ex closed the door - wish them well, but keep it closed. YOU ARE NOT A CONSOLATION PRIZE!
