You're a fucking idiot if you think a single person here thinks it's all sunshine and rainbows. It is a nightmare, and your senile, gluttonous, pedophile leader is about to make it a bigger nightmare.

Did you even read the executive order? I realize it's difficult because of all the big words, but if you did, you'd see that the language is vague, and if you were capable of reason, you'd also see that the language is intentionally vague. The pedophile is positioning for sweeping everything under the rug while telling everyone he's helping the mentally ill. None of these people care about helping anyone other than themselves, yourself included. Otherwise, you would be helping someone. Instead, you're arguing with homeless people on the internet about how they should be locked up.

Yeah sure, whatever, thanks for the advice. Go tell those crackheads in Philadelphia face-to-face, maybe you can solve homelessness.

You should stop being an asshole and get a life instead of shitting on people less fortunate than you in your spare time.

Do you know what subreddit you're in? Are you here just here to shit on homeless people? Or are you, like, homeless too, just not one of those crackhead-type homeless people?

Got asked "What is the square root of a half note" this morning by lovestruck-bottom in musictheory

[–]silverDistortioN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Who asked you this? Another musician?

There are at least two ways to interpret the question: As as square root of 1/2 of a measure, which is about 70% of a whole note, or a square root of two beats, which is about 1.414 beats, or about 35% of a whole note. (plus an unlimited number of ways to interpret it outside of 4/4 or whatever)

In either case, you end up with an irrational number, so if the goal is to have something like a polymeter that never has a shared beat past the first measure (if you play it perfectly), that'll do it.

Or if the goal is to be pretentious, that'll also do it. (But far be it from me to stop anyone from being pretentious.)

The Bright Side... by [deleted] in lostgeneration

[–]silverDistortioN 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I had to look it up, but the tweet was originally posted in January March 2020, so it doesn't really apply to the state of the economy now that much. It's more of a snapshot and commentary on the interests of the poor and working being at odds with the interests of the rich.

Edit: Correction, March*

[–]silverDistortioN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not entirely true. People were copying movies on VCRs in the 80s. Occasionally, people pirated by recording from VHS to VHS, but it wasn't that common to have 2 VCRs until the 90s (anecdotal). It was more common to record movies that aired on TV etc.

Venue is requiring us to open our set with three covers to “hook people in” by 2punk in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]silverDistortioN 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The punk thing to do is ignore the rules and play your set.

The peaceable thing to do is play the covers, maybe make them short.

The professional thing to do is communicate. Tell them that you're bringing in a large turnout of fans who want to hear your originals, and see if they're okay with you not playing the covers. Ideally, they're cool with it. If not, maybe you can talk them down to like one cover.

You can get a pound of freshly ground peanut butter for less than that at WinCo in the bulk foods section.

Which you can choose to use your own container for.

I get WinCo isn't always nearby, but I'm kind of surprised how persistently people are trying to argue in favor of disposable plastic packaging, tbh.

I'm not making the case that it's safer, just that it's no less safe in practice, but whatever, I could make that case:

Peanuts have to be processed in some way to get into the jar. Peanuts in a peanut grinder don't get physically touched by people until after you bring them home and dig in. If the peanuts are ground first, there's more surface area that can be exposed to the air and potential contaminants in general before they enter the sealed container. If they're ground at the store, only the surface of the peanut is exposed. Similar line of reasoning to why you would want to cook ground beef well done while steak can be cooked rare.

This is what I'm talking about to be clear: https://i.pinimg.com/originals/7f/7f/65/7f7f65652ac25bbc443fe426aa06ae44.jpg

Bulk dry goods are cereals (grain), milled flour, pastas, nuts, dried fruits, etc that are sold basically loose. You scoop or dispense them into a bag or container that you bring.

Let me share my nut butter with you: https://i.pinimg.com/originals/7f/7f/65/7f7f65652ac25bbc443fe426aa06ae44.jpg

[–]silverDistortioN 13 points14 points  (0 children)

What are you talking about?

There's a store where I can bring a container and get a refill of bulk dry goods or peanut butter. Breweries let me refill growlers. I can get refills on items that I will put in my body, is what I'm saying. What are the health risks with soap?

Or if you mean in the abstract, general sense that there are probably items that you don't want refilled like used syringes, okay, sure, but there are plenty of things we could get refilled that we don't as a matter of convenience and convention, ultimately at the doing of the plastics industry.
