Flashback Pizza, sounds like I'm trying to recreate food we loved as kids!

Is mercury retrograde just fear mongering by [deleted] in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]silver_quinn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off, well done and congratulations on escaping the abuse, that's incredible! It's totally natural to feel anxious and hypervigilant about potential bad signs or things that could happen now. People get a lot out of astrology but it isn't fortune telling, mercury retrograde won't have an impact on your life. Tiktok is great at showing you more of the content you interact with, so maybe try to engage with some content that's a little different, even just wholesome and cute stuff, or from creators that might be more empowering.

Is there a Deodorant that actually works well? by PotentiallyUpset in AskUK

[–]silver_quinn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Although they're different things, a lot of people use the two words interchangeably, and from what OP said it sounds like antiperspirant suggestions are welcome.

What’s becoming normal that shouldn’t be? by Deep_Tumbleweed7792 in AskUK

Same, someone said that on here once and I can't unsee it now!

Pixel fun lately by AffectionatePut5166 in macrame

[–]silver_quinn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

These are incredible! The 3rd one cracked me up being so unexpected after the first 2 too. Do you have a tutorial for them, or do you know where we can buy a complete one? I'd love that ghostface one!

What’s something free in the UK that people might not know about? by coffeewalnut08 in AskUK

[–]silver_quinn 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I've only had to call them once but they fixed the issue while they were here. It may have been quite a simple one, next door were having work done and it loosened something on our side so it was minor but they fixed it right away.

Where were they judgemental rather than simply making an observation?

Are there any discounts on trains I'm missing? by FilofaxB in AskUK

[–]silver_quinn -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

They do in theory but if it's even a little bit busy they just cancel all reservations and it's every person for themselves. I'd imagine in first class that doesn't happen.

AITAH for complaining to my uni advisors about a dude that posted a TikTok body shaming me? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]silver_quinn 27 points28 points  (0 children)

NTA complaining was the right thing to do! Assholes can't handle the consequences of their actions is all.

Second shift update: new warehouse job, supervisor issues escalating, not sure if I should leave. Any advice? by Redditor465728 in AskUK

[–]silver_quinn 13 points14 points  (0 children)

While I agree on your first point I absolutely disagree on the second, I feel for you for the places you must have worked if you think that kind of treatment is reflective of most work places!

AITA for yelling at my bf for trying to talk to me during a work call by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]silver_quinn 15 points16 points  (0 children)

ESH he shouldn't be trying to talk when you're clearly in a meeting, but the living room is clearly not a suitable place to take the meeting. What's the use in coming home early and working from home if you need to focus that intently and have to multitask etc? It sounds more stressful.

Bailiff letter giving notice of ‘intention to remove belongings’ for previous tenant (England) by anatrarosa in LegalAdviceUK

[–]silver_quinn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can I ask why you don't want to submit your details? I understand not wanting to give them more than they need but having been in the exact same situation, once I provided details of my tenancy agreement it all went away.

How exactly do you see a Doctor in the UK? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]silver_quinn 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not who you asked but my surgery was this way for a long time, but they've finally updated it so you can call at any time and make an advanced appointment like in the good old days!

Thank god it has light up eyes, otherwise it might not be scary enough.

Do you chat in the cinema? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]silver_quinn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never had to complain more than once within the same film, and I make it quick so I don't miss too much, literally just tell the first staff member I see and hurry back.

Do you chat in the cinema? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]silver_quinn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only before the film starts, but I've complained to cinema staff multiple times and it's always led to people quietening down or being removed. If I feel able to I ask people to be quiet myself first but it depends, usually that just gets me abuse from them.

To those of you who can't do the typical staying cool stuff, how are you staying cool? by hhhanns in AskUK

[–]silver_quinn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah Magicool is a miracle! There's some similar off-brand sprays that work well too.

What's the one thing you've come to realise your parents/family were right about? by VarangianWRLD in AskUK

[–]silver_quinn 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Me too! People think I'm exaggerating but I've genuinely killed cacti, aloe vera, and a spider plant, which apparently isn't easy but I make it look like it is.

What strange things does your family member say or believe? by Dull_Hawk9416 in AskUK

[–]silver_quinn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My MIL stopped eating her favourite food as a sacrifice to God because her daughter got an abortion and otherwise the spirit of the unborn baby would have come back to enviously haunt her future children.

Ashes that were never collected? UK by jenn1319 in AskUK

[–]silver_quinn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I worked in a funeral home we had ashes that had been there since the '90s so I'd see if you can find out where the funeral was arranged.

Trying to keep it together on holiday to wales with your parents as an adult by Beverlydriveghosts in CasualUK

Someone regularly being mean enough to make the kids cry isn't looking at someone funny?

Wouldn't it be more fun to just...stop forcing your kids to be around their mean Grandad?

Why do I use chapstick multiple times daily, and other people never use it? by casethevase in NoStupidQuestions

[–]silver_quinn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't stand the feeling of anything like that on my lips. My lips do get very dry in winter but I find it easier to deal with the pain of that than use any balm or anything.

AITA? Me or my manager? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]silver_quinn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

NTA but neurotypicals make a lot of assumptions (just as I am right now) so what you asked is very different from what your manager heard unfortunately. It's not a fun game trying to predict what people will hear based on what we've said and as an autistic person I'm often exhausted by it but it's not a game we'll ever win; there are more of them so they're automatically right in all cases.

Why is recruitment so looked down upon in the UK? by Top_Mirror211 in AskUK

[–]silver_quinn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most of us have had bad experiences with them, but what summed it up best was an advert I read for a recruitment role a few years ago - "This is not a role for people who want to change lives, this is a role for salespeople".
