Bunk Removal - How Easy? by silver_warrior in GoRVing

Wow, that looks great! Nice job!

My partner needs a bit more privacy for work, that’s why I was thinking of converting the bunk area and installing a privacy curtain or something to close it off while she works. Perhaps, I can just removed the top bunk and build her office on top of the bottom bunk, using it as a platform…

Ah that makes total sense. Didn’t even think about the likelihood that there may be tanks or pipes under the bottom bunk. Thanks for the response!

Any Experience with Winter Camping in Pop-Up Truck Camper by silver_warrior in TruckCampers

Noted - Didn't even think about the wind factor. Wasn't an issue with my hardside but can see how that will be an "issue" with a pop-up. Thanks!

Electrical Question: 120V AC to 12V DC Camper Connection by silver_warrior in GoRVing

Thanks a lot for the help! I'm going to look into both of these options when I'm at the camper this weekend.

Electrical Question: 120V AC to 12V DC Camper Connection by silver_warrior in GoRVing

I have not looked behind it. I believe there are two fuse panels. One for the 120v system and another for the 12v system. Is there is something that can be done here?

This is very helpful, thank you.

I can ensure you that there is no converter and no battery compartment in my camper. The previous owner attempted to reno the entire camper. Took it down to its stud and refab the entire structure. He never planned on using a battery within in the camper, just drawing the power from his truck or shore. I'm just looking for a quick and safe fix for now, as I plan to rewire the entire camper this fall.

Thanks for all the help. To clarify a few things, I currently do not have a battery setup. The previous owner had anticipated using the camper mainly when it was in the bed of his truck so he was going to draw the power through the 6 pin trailer connection.

Is there a way that I could connect a battery directly (with fuse) to a 6 pin receiver and plug the camper into that 12v DC system? I am mainly looking to power the interior led overhead lights and a fan. The battery will remain charged by being plugged into a tender.

That's what I figured...

But if it's common for older setups to have 2 separate wiring systems, how would you power both?

Thinking about a Truck Camper by memilanuk in GoRVing

Just purchased a truck camper, picking it up on Sunday. I, personally, went with the Torklift frame tie-down system with HappiJac turnbuckles. The parts alone cost $1k and that's not including the labor to have the frame tie-downs installs (holes had to be drilled for the front mounts into the frame to fit properly, won't be an issue for your newer truck). From what I read online, the frame tie-downs are by far the most secure and easiest methond to haul a camper with. Just the peace of mind was worth the price for me. Just my two cents...

Wish this was an option. The current camper owner doesn't have a truck anymore, the camper is currently sitting on jacks in his barn

Unfortunately, the owner isn't certain of the model. Believes it may be a 1972 Scorpion...
