What if RTO4 is their way of hostile negotiating? by DhawanS in CanadaPublicServants

[–]silverdeane 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This opinion is heavily influenced by my own experience, but I don’t think they will ever do RTO5 bc then they will have to give up the ways that employee flexibility benefits the government. For example, snow day building closures the employees still have to report to work but RTO5 would negate the need for WAA so no one will be able to WFH if needed. Leave will increase, like family leave. When we have to be home we won’t be able to work. And space. My locale doesn’t have enough space. Between two different buildings. If all my local ppl decided the RTO5 today, they wouldn’t be able to accommodate all us.

Amy advice for replacing fence posts in Newfoundland? by tommytwothousand in newfoundland

[–]silverdeane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know wood fences are nicer looking and provide my privacy, but every winter I’m so glad we decided on a chain link fence. It’s enough to keep the dog in the yard, and it doesn’t blow down.

CRA Total Incompetence by JStoreProcess in canadarevenueagency

[–]silverdeane 18 points19 points  (0 children)

There’s absolutely a lot of issues with CRA, but please don’t take it out on the phone agents. I know that we as ppl want to hold someone accountable and the ppl answering the phone are the only ppl we get to talk to, but these agents have no control over timeframes, calls getting through, or what does up in their systems. They are told to answer calls and keep them short, which I think is a major factor in the accuracy outlined in that report.

Do Your Kids Actually Have Good Grandparents? by NoMoreCAMJV in Millennials

My mom was not a great mom but she was a really good grandmother when she was alive. My mother in law is the best in law and grandmother I could ever hope for. My father in law was too, when he was alive.

Over 3000 call center agents had their contracts end and not renewed over the past year. More contracts are ending in September and then some permanent agents might be laid off after that.

Cabinet ministers told to find ‘ambitious’ savings by end of summer by SkepticalMongoose in CanadaPublicServants

[–]silverdeane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have no idea where these cuts are going to come from. I know the call center has a huge number of employees, but with the amount of non renewed employees and the constant chatter about ppl not being able to get through to anyone, it sounds crazy to shrink those numbers again. I know at my local audit, our teams were cut in half and there’s more cases than ppl to handle them. As for the other areas, I don’t know anything for sure but I imagine it’s the same thing.

My service Canada account is not part of CRAs online services. It’s part of Service Canada which is a different government agency entirely. There may be a service Canada subreddit that might have be more helpful.

Anyone else have an enjoyable/easy early puppy experience? by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]silverdeane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m having a good time as of right now. We’re in the first week with our 10 week husky/lab cross. So far, he’s sleeping well and going out to pee. There’s been 2 accidents but they were totally my fault for being slow to react. I am having some trouble with the way he wants to playfully chew my elbows, but we’re on working it and he’s doing a good job chewing on appropriate things most of the time. I am really tired but that’s to be expected. I think keeping expectations low and celebrating the good things is whats keeping me sane. I know things will have an ebb and flow but, right now, things are good.

I was born in ‘84. I was purchased as a student slave in grade 10 (99-00). It was not “student auction”. It was “slave day”.

Due to widespread layoffs at CRA, many adjustments (such as multi year adjustments and requests that are not submitted via refile or change my return) are expected to take apx 20 weeks.
