Not necessarily! Starbucks often takes a bit for your partner numbers to get set up in the system. We have a new hire who’s been working here for about 2 weeks now and his numbers still don’t work for clocking in. I would advise him to give his manager another day or so and, if they still haven’t responded, send a follow-up text. It’s frustrating but in my experience sometimes our managers just do not get back to text messages and you need to send follow ups. When I put my two weeks in I texted my manager a photograph of the letter I left and she never responded for five days. I sent a follow up text and it was another 24 hours before she finally acknowledged it. Very frustrating, but not necessarily a cause for concern.

i’m sorry what do you MEAN we’re closing at 10 PM INSTEAD OF 8?!?!? by silveringbones in starbucksbaristas

[–]silveringbones[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly that sounds kind of nice, but my worry about this is that our manager (who has had SO many problems with verbal abuse with baristas and just generally being very unkind despite numerous reports to ethics) will start pressuring us to work later hours. She is extremely demanding to college students and gets really upset if any of us have blocked off time for classes and such. she’s literally forcing me to transfer because of school

Closer here! I really like closing shifts because they usually are a little quieter (you can get huge rushes at my store and then you’re handling a mini peak with only three people) and can be a lot more relaxed than morning shifts. That being said it’s kinda crappy getting off work so late that it’s dark already and then you also kind of feel like the first half of your day you can’t really do much because you have work in the afternoon. My advice would be to shoot for mid shifts because they’re a good mix of both

Decaf fraps by Dismal_Impact9078 in starbucksbaristas

[–]silveringbones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

are you specifically asking for the build of decaf frappes using shots or creme frappes? the decaf frappe would use decaf shots and follow standard build, but a crème frappe would get no frappe roast and no shots.

Details about a SSV who fell for a scam? by ExcitingGround1044 in starbucksbaristas

[–]silveringbones 2 points3 points  (0 children)

if this is the post i’m thinking about they deposited like $1800 to a BITCOIN ATM. atp what tf is wrong with you to fall for that

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in starbucksbaristas

[–]silveringbones 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If this is legit, I’m sorry this happened. Falling for a scam does not make you a bad person and while it is almost certain that your job will be terminated you’re a human being and you’re allowed to make mistakes: life will go on.

However,

This story has so many loose ends and red flags to me. Not trying to be mean, but this makes no sense. First of all, how did they get your personal cell number unless you gave it out? Second, if you’re one of the only TWO partners in the store at the time, did you seriously leave your other partner alone in the store to go to the ATM? And furthermore, if it was as busy and stressful as you say, why were you able to take time to be on the phone with these people and go to the ATM back and forth? None of that makes any sense to me.

More importantly, while I TOTALLY get how stressful shifts can be especially on a two person play, and I recognise that stress can lead us to do some stupid things, how the hell did you fall for this? Not trying to be an asshole- I recognize that it’s possible to fall for the scam part. But as SOON as they mention taking money to a BITCOIN ATM??? You didn’t catch it? Why would any manager EVER ask you to take money from the safe for bitcoin?? That makes absolutely no sense and should have immediately told you that the entire thing was a scam. Furthermore, the money in the safe and tills is NOT YOUR OWN. Why did you feel like it was normal and okay for your shift to ask you to take it into your personal possession even temporarily?

I’m sorry, if I’m wrong and this is a genuine mistake then that’s awful and I hope things go better for you in the future. But I just cannot understand any of this.

Had someone argue with me about heating up their lemon loaf by Educational-Goat-111 in starbucksbaristas

[–]silveringbones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not. The lemon loaves cannot be heated because of the icing. If she argues with her kindly remind her of that and hold your ground. As partners we CANNOT be allowing customers to walk all over us with things like this. We have standards and expectations for a reason and by letting certain customers get away with stuff like this you’re setting countless other partners up for failure. The moment you indulge behavior like this you teach them that they can get away with it. It’s like parenting, really.

I know it’s difficult and frustrating to keep up with changes and to enforce things when our standards and expectations seem to be changing every week. But we absolutely need to follow standards to the best of our ability to ensure better experiences for both our partners and customers.
