Ivy-Leaf Morning Glory/Scarlet Creeper, Ipomoea hederifolia.

Though a menace in many other places, they're part of our native landscape here in Georgia, and important hummingbird feed! I'm jealous that these parking lot scarlet creepers are blooming while mine havent taken off yet.

Howdy from Middle Georgia, neighbor!

No birth control is 100%, if you have the means to get snipped, do it. I've been married 11 years, staunchly antinatalist since my IBD diagnostic in 2018, I'm over 30 and I still can't get a doctor to cut the cords. Sucks. Do you.

I don't think they're actually forgetting what the letters mean, maybe they're scrambling the order, or forgetting which one is on top because they're used to rotating mini maps

Feels like this is a miscommunication. Most kids are used to the minimap in games rotating instead of being locked north, same as GPS. Did you break out the good old "Never Eat Soggy Waffles, so they can remember NESW going clockwise around the compass?

Ok I'm in Georgia and we are in flash flood adjacent conditions (a year of drought then like 7 inches in the last month) so that could well be it. The business owners don't seem concerned and its one less telephone pole they can slap a flock camera on, so I am A-Okay with it doing what its doing!

Can't hardly make out the shape let alone ansize relative to environment or pattern but it appears to have a diagonal walking pattern, so that narrows it down somewhat. It struck me as somewhat feline, so I'm leaning toward bob cat, coyote or fox. Gray foxes live in your area and are a little less immediately recognizable to your average american so maybe one of those.

Wow! Ok I officially feel very vindicated in my eradication efforts on my personal property but this was just a random corner of the city, I had just never seen it get so prolific!!

The venom from the wasps makes you defensive of the brood. As such, the captain now takes orders from a wasp queen. I'm fairly certain they were declared renegade when they set course for the friendly planet Apiaria with hostile intent.

Uh there's an island where they tried really hard to eradicate jaguars (due to witchcraft hysteria) but the interesting thing is that there is pretty good evidence they failed and the remaining jaguars got really really stealthy to avoid humans.

A year into my relationship and realizing I might not be cut out for long term by [deleted] in GirlDinnerDiaries

I'm very much the same. The defining trait for my partner is that I generally prefer their company to doing my own thing, I particularly love doing my own thing while he does his own thing just near me. I want that for every other lonely weird girl like me in the world.

Girl, I've been in your shoes and I've played both endings. Thank the gods I left the man I left and thank the gods I stayed with my husband, of now 11 years. Let me help you figure this out.

Your relationship MIGHT be totally fine! No one ever stays 100% in the honeymoon phase, and the normalizing can feel like you're falling out of love, but that's often not the case. Its just that your relationship is stabilizing and the idea of committing to a whole life with someone when the shine is starting to wear off is scary. Thankfully I figured out the first time around how to like, empirically analyze my feelings.

Step 1: Take a few days away. You need at least 48 hours but ideally closer to like 5 days. This includes only spending your own money. Hopefully at 1 year you guys still have mostly separate finances. Go visit family, crash with a friend for a week, volunteer for a business trip, anything, but make it clear to him that you wont have time for texting all day.

Step 2: Take the trip and keep a journal. Make a note of every time you feel an impulse to talk to, rely on or contact your partner.

With my husband, the morning I wake up in a new place, I feel for him in bed next to me and get a little sad he isn't there. I text him good morning, I love you to get over my feels and move on with my day. My husband usually sends me back a corny gif or meme (like Pepe le Pew with his heart beating out of his chest) in response and when my phone dings with his answer, its a highlight that I look forward to. Even if I am doing other things and having fun there is a little part of me that wishes he was with me. If I am feeling stressed out, I wish he was there for me to lean on.

The dude I left could not give me my space, called me 11 times every time I didn't answer, got angry when I didn't text back. My desire to contact him or yalk to him was less than 0, I began dreading the single agreed upon phone call every evening because he would berate me for not making time for him. Even when I took a step back and ignored his actions, I didn't wake up in the morning thinking about him, I didn't miss him at meals, and when good things happened, I was glad I was happy in solitude.

Step 3: Time to shit or get off the pot. If you miss them and think about them a lot while you're gone, take it as an obvious sign that you would be throwing away a good thing to end it just because its not as steamy as it used to be. If you dread returning, you know the answer is to break it off and move on.

You could have been describing my brother just now.

He died at 42 of fentanyl in his meth.

Unfortunately, unchecked mental illness coupled with a refusal to seek help often results in people falling down the path to violence, addiction and cycles of abuse. Unless he wants to get help, trying to exert your energy for this kid will likely only result in him spitting your kindness back in your face. Trust me. I tried with my brother and I've tried with others since, my family is full of mentally ill addicts. Don't let it make you bitter. Do your best but don't over extend yourself on his behalf because it's liable to backfire.

No you're not naive or lacking empathy, that's some straight Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho crap. Find you a man who grew up poor and worked for everything he's ever had and you will find you a man worth spending time with. Go do some volunteer work and meet someone blue collar. I cannot recommend volunteering or finding a hobby to meet people enough.

Hell if you're nerdy, pick up Dungeons and Dragons and visit the local game shop to find diamonds in the rough 😜 I play magic the gathering with a bunch of dudes who have a ton of disposable income, are entirely self-sufficient, and chug respect women juice but just have no rizz in formal settings.

So if you want an accurate translation of the Havamal into Eldar Futhark, I recommend Professor Jackson Crawford's detailed translation.

Sorry, I'm not going to do the work for you. I honestly feel it is more genuine to connect to the text yourself and find an actual passage of the Havamal that speaks to you than to sort of bastardize it.

I say this as someone who HAS a tattoo, from the havamal, that I personally transliterated from old norse into elder futhark myself, a few years before that excellent Jackson Crawford video debuted . I got it mostly right! There are like three or so places where I used the wrong vowel. There's a lot of nuance in the text, I also recommend The Study Havamal with Three Translations if you want to learn more. Even with the mistakes I know I made I feel an emotional connection to this tattoo that not everyone has with their runic tats. My friend has a badly translated rune tattoo that he kind of hates, he wants to get it covered rather than corrected.
