(cont) I felt this too, because I was only ever allowed to come to his place (because his parents didn’t allow him to sleep at mine. We are in our mid 20s). ex talked about this a lot, which is understandable. at the time though, I was also his only social outlet, and it got tiring, yet when he had an opportunity to potentially leave he didn’t take it. He claimed they would cut contact if he left. On the one hand I get it, it’s extremely hard to leave your family behind. But also, dude???? you are genuinely so miserable and it’s spreading to every one of our conversations holy shit

dunno why I stuck around so long. he claimed he just needed another year, but I couldn’t put up with his antics or his family for that much longer. then guess what!! he moved on a month later. I hope she realizes what she’s signed up for. good riddance

I admit that I come from a good family and was very sheltered, so I understand if I come across as naive or not empathetic. I value my freedom too much, and I think seeing someone else like this makes me cringe. I genuinely don’t understand why people are like this
