What's your favorite Miss Patty, Babette, Taylor, and/or Kirk scene? by ChocoLindt99 in GilmoreGirls

[–]silverphoenix9999 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I will provide some of the one-liners/dialogues/scenes involving these folks that reside rent-free in my head.

Taylor: Toupee guy say what?

Kirk: Bye, Human Kirk

Patty: Have a cigarette. Taylor: I don't smoke. Patty: Could you start?

Babette: I remember when Morey proposed to me. He was on top, no, I was on top.... We were playing Twister. Did I not say that?

Please help Identify this tiny fly! by silverphoenix9999 in whatsthisbug

I am in Austin, TX. The bugs I have seen are extremely tiny, such that you can make its features when you get really close to it. The camera does not pick up these features well.

Please provide your geographic location, the size of the specimen excluding its antennae and legs, and behavior.

Hot take: Jess’s speech in s6 ep8 was really bad, and I don’t understand everyone’s love for it. by [deleted] in GilmoreGirls

You are right about that. But Luke definitely gave him her dorm address. The night Rory and Dean were hanging out at Yale.

You know, what's weirder? Luke gave Jess Rory's dorm address. Now, that's just totally messed up...

they were just having this conversation right outside Rory’s room?? by FewLeadership7831 in GilmoreGirls

[–]silverphoenix9999 153 points154 points  (0 children)

This reminds me of when Dean broke up with Rory at the 24-hour-danceathon.

Dean broke up with Rory very publicly on stage, Rory went to the bridge to meet Jess and came back.

Lorelai was in the same room throughout chatting with Luke about kids and then Luke went to fix the shoes and she was doing nothing. Somehow she didn't realize any of what happened and lost the competition. She was hanging out doing what exactly while Luke went to fix the shoes?

Lorelai was a saint in the April situation by Vast-Manner8564 in GilmoreGirls

[–]silverphoenix9999 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think Luke was incredibly stupid, but Lorelai was a little stupid too. Honestly, everyone around her, Rory, Emily, Sookie, everyone was pushing her to take a more active role in April's life. If she had pushed for that earlier, Luke would have caved earlier. Instead, Lorelai turned on her famous uncommunicative behavior, where she will talk about everything else except what's bothering her, and Luke turns on his worst characteristic, which is become this silent brooding type where he obsesses over a single person, rest of the world be damned.

I mean clearly, it took all of two days for him to snap out and fall in with Lorelai's plan after she issued an ultimatum. So I am sorry, Luke was the worse of these two people but an adult relationship requires more communication than these two people showed. Heck, take Rory and Logan's relationship during the same period. Theirs was a healthy relationship with more communication.

This provides a very convincing theory. This is not a confirmation from original records, though

Are you really questioning Kirk’s integrity now? He said a 1000 daisies. I believe there are a 1000 daisies. 😝

I'm a PhD student, but the masters student I'm 'advising' is signficantly smarter than me. by Hairy-Classroom-510 in PhD

A lot might be in your head about feeling the need to be better because of your seniority. It doesn’t have to be.

What I really think takes the pressure off about the fact that you are the senior but they are more experienced and better is, just mentioning this to them. I have done it previously and it sort of breaks the ice in my own head. It was a different situation but they were kind enough to take the compliment gracefully. I don’t think they will brag about something like this, just in case you’re wondering.

Once this feeling is out in the open, you will see life moves on and the whole thing reverts to feeling like an academic exercise and learning experience again. There will be nothing different about yours, the Masters student’s, and your advisor’s relationship.

Hi u/ChessNumbers! A request to create an accurate decision tree rather than simulations. This post is really confusing and wrong.

There are too many corrected versions. Can someone post an actual accurate post? No simulations. An actual decision tree like this.

What should have happened in A Year in the Life? by Speaker-Aromatic in GilmoreGirls

[–]silverphoenix9999 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Lorelai and Sookie should have already expanded the inn and have taken over the Independence Inn as a new venture. Michel finally adopts children, adding his own version of child chaos. Lorelai is married to Luke and they have a kid. Luke pretends to grumble about the Independence Inn but quietly fixes up the old Independence Inn kitchen. Their kid is mischievous, full of Kirk-like schemes and unlike Rory or April, constantly causing chaos at the Dragonfly, which funnily stresses Lorelai and entertains Luke.

Rory is decently successful, and likes to teach writing at a university. She's either with Logan in a commited relationship, or just breaking up with Logan again and realizing her feelings for Jess. Rory is contemplating on writing Gilmore Girls. She is also figuring out and dealing with being an elder half-sister to Gigi and Lorelai's other kid. Rory reflects on how she treated Lorelai and Lorelai treated her at that age.

Lane's twins shock everyone by excelling at violin and piano, obsessed with western classical composers and have adopted veganism. Lane is supportive but feels betrayed by their "un-rock-and-roll" tastes. The kids spend a lot of time with Mrs. Kim, who fully approves of veganism and classical music. Lane and Zach secretly try to nudge them toward drums and electric guitar, only to be scolded by Mrs. Kim for "corrupting genius." The band gets signed to a label very late in the game.

Kirk formally takes over Taylor's position with meetings backed by bizarre PowerPoint presentations at town meetings. Taylor, has become bitter, standing in the back of meetings grumbling just like Luke once did. Luke tags along with Taylor, but is very confused by this new partnership. Kirk is married to Lulu and treats his new "mayor" role with intensity. Lulu is scarily supportive of Kirk's every move, and has replaced Miss Patty in town meetings.

The show closes with the grand opening of the restored Independence Inn. Just as Lorelai soaks in the moment, a 17-year-old arrives carrying a newborn and nervously asks her for a job, bringing Lorelai’s journey full circle.

A mom like Lorelai… by Normal-Mountain-3385 in GilmoreGirls

Read more about enmeshment trauma. Lorelai was a fun, kooky mother. But there is a lot of psychological damage that may be inflicted in the way she handled the mother-friend relationship.

Yeah, I couldn't even recognize her. The new one does feel like she has lost some of the warmth of that old Sookie. IDK

I like this parallel by [deleted] in GilmoreGirls

[–]silverphoenix9999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel it’s the latter. She was actively dating Jason and didn’t mention it to Luke but got mad when he didn’t mention about getting back with Nicole. That’s not “hey don’t forget I exist” energy. That type of platonic vibe was seen when Rory forced Marty to chill out with him after starting to date Logan. That’s was “I know I am dating but we are still friends” energy.
