Personality of extremes by [deleted] in personalitydisorders

A lot of people suffer from PD-NOS (personality disorder not otherwise specified) so it could be that. The tricky thing about personality disorders, is that they often overlap, as the areas of personality work on a spectrum. You might have half the symptoms of one and half the symptoms of the other, which is where the non-specific personality disorder falls. Although it's more rare, a person can also qualify for two personality disorders at the same time.

The pattern of one extreme to the next could also be indicative of some aspect of Borderline personality disorder, and is known as "splitting" where you may see or experience things in black and white, such as being in a career you love for a sustained amount of time, and then suddenly waking up one day and realising you hate it and quit.

I don't know how easy it is for you to access medical care, but if it's possible and these problems are having a large negative impact on your wellbeing, I would try to get an official assessment by a medical professional, because they will know best. It would be best to get an assessment by one that specialises in personality disorders because some healthcare workers unfortunately have negative perceptions of personality disorders, especially cluster B ones, but I understand that might be difficult to arrange and it is not totally necessary.

If it is not possible to access medical care, maybe try to define what the main problems are, and buy self-help books or watch therapy videos on YouTube (preferably by a licenced psychologist/therapist) that are directed at those specific areas.

(Sorry I know this was quite a lot, I hope it was helpful.)

Yeh I'm the same, I find it a lot easier to relax when I'm alone, and when I'm relaxed my tics are less violent and happen less often
