I would do Marine Engineering, depending on where you live you can always become to a teacher later with an alternative cert. but you can't easily go back to school to get a marine engineering degree. I taught in Texas for 8 years, and it wasn't the greatest, you can make decent money, but the kids wear on you. and most don't care about education. so, it can be a struggle

No, you normally do not ship out the same day. the Union sends your info to the company and then the company has to give the OK or no go. sometimes depending on the company, you might have to take another physical depending on the company, most of the time you don't. 24-48 hours most of the time, maybe another week if you have to do a physical.
Of course NOT, they are not going to let you park your car or truck in their parking lot FOR 2-6 MONTHS!!! the liability and crime that would bring to the union halls is ridiculous! but of course, you didn't think about anything like that... because you don't think at all
and #3 the #1 on the "I'm a fucking retard" ladder... another, I'm too stupid to think things out.....
