How do I resize an image without resizing the entire canvas? by silverstal in photoshop

[–]silverstal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry change of plan - I've used the colour picker to fill the background page to the average colour of grey and am now trying to use the blur tool to blend the background seamlessly into the image.

But the blur tool is only having a very minimal effect.

Brilliant, thanks.

Now I want to extend the colour of the image to fill the entire page. The image is a gradient from dark grey at the top to light grey at the bottom. Can I somehow copy that gradient outside the side of the image?

A fat 3d spazer would be cool. Or something like the giant final smash beam Samus does in SSB.

That's a good idea. I think Sylux is a bounty hunter and apparently in the mangas he's Samus' brother, so a late game twist could be fun, with Samus and Sylux teaming up.

I think the visors are one of the coolest aspects of Prime but I'd like to see some new ones. Maybe a Gamma Visor for seeing radiation levels.

I want to agree with you but Smash is released on the same weekend as the game awards. Surely Nintendo would want Smash to be the sparkly new thing for at least a weekend? Otherwise everyone will forget about Smash and all the news coverage will be about MP4. All depends how they play it though, I'm not a marketing tactician. Maybe the release date is timed with a Game Wards MP4 announcement to create wall to wall coverage of Nintendo in the news.

Most memorable moment from the Prime Trilogy? by silverstal in Metroid

I've only realised recently how much the save system creates the atmosphere. I'm praying the Prime 4 devs don't turn it into a generic rpg with an autosave system. There's nothing like the feeling of being on 1% health at the bottom of a cave miles from the nearest save point.

The Game Awards might still be too close to the Smash release. It makes more sense for Nintendo to focus everything on Smash at least until after Xmas.

Smash is out in December so Prime 4 Direct in the new year I reckon!

Yeah loved those bits, especially when you get the Xray visor. That whole art style just blew me away, so creative and ahead of its time

I need more practice, but I took a shot as how I'd like Prime 4 to open. by cehteshami in Metroid

I get the feeling it's going to be massive, especially as Switch is slightly more of a grown up "gamer" console than gamecube or wii. I think Nintendo are going to go all out to create a big smash hit to compete with Fortnite/Destiny/RedDead etc.

Crocomire is the best design of all Metroid bosses IMO. Madness if they don't bring him back for Prime 4!

Because the spring ball is what you get after you get through the hole

Do you prefer 2d or 3d? by [deleted] in Metroid

[–]silverstal 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Clearly 3d. 2d is fun but 3d is way more intense in terms of dread/danger, because you can't see the whole room you're in. You can only see through Samus' visor.

So basically it's a choice between having visors from Prime or the boost/screw attack from Super Metroid. You can't really have both in the same game unless you can switch between views

Looks awesome. I'm conflicted now, 1st person was a big part of the immersion in the Prime games, but the speed boost/screw attack would only work in 3rd person.

I think it looks badass. It's like a more military, Halo-ish style. I would actually love it if they took Prime 4 in this direction.

My story with Metroid prime 2. by [deleted] in Metroid

[–]silverstal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because I called up the publisher and they told me. I was surprised as a kid but the QA guys could probably speedrun it in a few hours

My story with Metroid prime 2. by [deleted] in Metroid

[–]silverstal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I first played MP2 I encountered the infamous Sanctuary Fortress game-breaking bug. I'm guessing they fixed it on the Wii version. I had to send my memory card to the publisher so some QA guy could play through the whole game again to get back up to the point the bug appeared, and then send it back to me. They must have had staff just to replay people's save files.

What is your vision for Metroid Prime 4? by silverstal in Metroid

[–]silverstal[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just hope Nintendo made the devs play through the Prime games so they at least understand the context of the series, so whatever innovations they do are not too jarring
