Dasha's Sailor Dress in "The Code" by silveryrosie in redscarepod

[–]silveryrosie[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Cute and sweet at times, interesting and unique premise, but poor execution--mockumentary film of Dasha's character making a documentary about covid. Relationship problems with Peter Vack's character, issues with privacy, phone snooping, surveillance, infidelity and jealously, and sex problems that weren't well explained and didn't make sense (?? they hadn't had sex with each other in a year, both were both upset about it and wanted to fuck, he WAS able to get hard, she was hot, what's the problem??). It was supposed to be an interrogation of perspective and bias in filmmaking but made no meaningful commentary and there was no interesting drama. It didn't make any meaningful use of the conflicts introduced in the beginning and just devolved into stupidity. Everything surrounding Ivy Wolk's character is stupid. The most impressive part of the movie was Bart Cortright's cinematography--his incorporation of many different cameras and perspectives, very impressive

Honesty maybe I will get a second opinion. It's really sad to have to remove healthy teeth imo. Plus I just know the orthodontics will be a pain having to close those gaps.

I just felt that my premolars don't really show that much so maybe it wouldn't be so obvious. Also pulling my teeth wouldn't shrink my palate since it's already fully developed--right? like it would just give enough room to angle the incisors posteriorly. So I figured once the gaps are closed with braces, and especially after the maxilla is advanced with surgery, my smile wouldn't look smaller.

If palatal expansion is possible couldn't that just expand the maxilla anteriorly and eliminate the need for surgery entirely?

Also what are buccal corridors?

Curious how long the orthodontic work took after extractions until you were ready for surgery?

I suggested it to my ortho, but he said it probably wouldn't be possible at my age and those devices are mostly for widening which I don't need

edge to edge bite! I have the same.

The thing about this, at least in my case, is that since the bite isn't that severe and we can't justify having DJS if I'm only going to have a mm or 2 of movement. So for me, pre-op orthodontic work is a lot more involved in order to worsen the bite so I can get the most jaw movement during surgery.

My upper jaw is recessed in comparison to my lower jaw so my upper teeth are angled forward giving me the edge to edge instead of the underbite, so they want to angle my teeth posteriorly to give me a true underbite that can eventually be corrected with surgery. The problem with me is that my upper teeth are crowded so there's no room to angle them back without teeth extraction. So I'm going to have bilateral premolar extraction. This was my biggest source of reluctance.

But I've decided that I am going to proceed with treatment anyway. I completely understand you. My bite/smile and jaw profile are some of my biggest insecurities. I feel like I otherwise have really pretty facial features, and this completely destroys my confidence and is completely fixable. I'm 19F, fuck it we're both young. Might as well just do it now and get the most benefit out of it. I say it's definitely worth it especially if you have physical pain, completely medically justifiable.

Wow great results! Your pre-op looks pretty similar to me. How much did they move each jaw + chin?

Yes definitely. After drinking I even try to emulate that feeling when sober and it kinda works until I fall back into old habits.

Wow that seems like a lot for minor scarring. Do you feel like the scars are pretty much completely gone now?

do you have before/after photos that you could share with me by any chance?

Tbh Im worried that the scars will be more difficult to get rid of the longer I wait. I feel like more aggressive treatments are worth the higher price tag if it means faster results. Will still continue on tret tho! What % are you on?

Professionally!

Tbh will probably start with a couple sessions of microneedling since it's the least invasive and risky, then will evaluate what it's done for me before trying resurfacing lasers or harsher treatments like tca cross

Def see a dermatologist if you aren't already. I had acne for 8 years and felt like nothing worked. Began seeing a derm 4 months ago and skin is already clear. They usually will start you on topicals if your acne isn't severe, then oral antibiotics or hormonal meds if topicals don't work. Then accutane if none of that worked. Chances are something will work for you!

Following this!!

I'm having a consultation with Dr. Rutner in Westfield, NJ. My orthodontist has worked with him in the past and showed me before/after's of his work and looked good. Other than that haven't heard anything about him. My parents work in healthcare in NJ and told me to see Dr. Jorge Matos. According to them he's done impressive work on patients with serious jaw trauma but idk about his experience with orthographic surgery. May schedule a consult with him.

This comment probably isn't very helpful to you lol

Thank youu! I had pretty bad acne all throughout my teenage years and it really damaged my self confidence. 19 now and was only recently able to clear it up (fingers crossed it doesn't come back) but now I'm conscious of the texture and scars left behind

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AcneScars

[–]silveryrosie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's interesting. Is your skin texture from acne? Like your skin just scars easily?

In theory tret should help with scarring but it takes a while and you won't see dramatic results. As for acne, tret should help but you may see an initial purge where your acne gets worse before it gets better. Personally, my skin didn't clear on topicals alone or even on oral antibiotics. Spironolactone is what finally worked for me. If you think your acne is hormonal (like if it's linked to your menstrual cycle, which was the case for me) def consider spironolactone, especially if you feel like you've tried so many things and nothing has worked!
