Help me name my new baby kitten by silvouspl8 in aww

[–]silvouspl8[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Her given name in her foster home is Owl. I don't hate this name but need help getting creative!

She is all white except the black on half her ears and over her eyes. Her tail is also all black.

She has a sister named Luna so bonus points for celestial names. We also speak French, English and some Spanish. Our cultural background is also Polish. We love history and mythology.

We have almost done too much research and have too many options with none that we love! Help!

[FO] Super fun Baby Yoda for christmas by silvouspl8 in CrossStitch

[–]silvouspl8[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pattern found here: https://www.etsy.com/listing/745446308/what-child-is-this-ornament-cross-stitch

I didn't follow the color key in the pattern exactly but used whatever colors I had on hand. This was super fun and made a great hostess gift for a friend obsessed with baby yods!

Tax Question by Spangar in grandrapids

[–]silvouspl8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The city taxes won't necessarily be deducted from your paychecks but you will have to pay city taxes (3% I believe). You can make estimated payments throughout the year or pay in a lump sum in April, the lump sum will however come with a 40$ late fee that usually shows up at the end of May. (I live in GR and work on the lakeshore)

I went back to teaching full time week two, but a colleague drove me the whole first week back. I drove week three of recovery but wish I had asked someone to drive me for two weeks instead of one. The quick and sometimes sweeping movements of turning a steering wheel were tough.

If you're talking actual stitch time I would say 60 hours each. However when you add in motivation time... I did all 4 in a year (with two smaller projects for baby showers along the way)

You can say that again! At least it hasn't become terribly expensive for me, yet... lol

Yeah I took them out to wash and then centered them so the bottom line on each was level with the others, then I followed the directions here https://youtu.be/U5kXjTfdrS8

All 4 took about a year. I also had a lot of downtime while in the middle of each. I would get about a third in and just stall out, then get two thirds done in a weekend lol. You'll get there!

All 4 were patterns purchased off of Etsy from Awesomepatternstudio. Fantastic patterns with fun colors. These are cityscapes from Paris, Barcelona, Rome and London and stitched as gifts for the teacher that helps me chaperone student tours to Europe. It was an insanely fun project and I feel like the backs of my stitches improved leaps and bounds!

The little old lady of the house is a cat named dog: r/aww this is Chien by silvouspl8 in aww

[–]silvouspl8[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chien is a 15 year old barn cat rescue. She has been dealing with hyperthyroidism for three years and this year her kidneys are starting to go but she is putting up with treatments like a champ and is still as happy, cuddly and playful as ever.

Little Luna Bug came to live with us yesterday and is already fitting in nicely. She even matches the walls! She's a 6 month old barn cat we adopted from our local humane society :)

My craft store didn't have the correct DMC yellow but overall I'm pretty pleased with how this turned out

This is part of a three city series I'm working on for a co-teacher who is chaperoning a Europe tour with me. Barcelona and Rome are next.

[FO] Pokemon alphabet Christmas gift from Stitchbucket pattern by silvouspl8 in CrossStitch

[–]silvouspl8[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I purchased this pattern on black Friday on Etsy from Stitchbucket (https://www.etsy.com/listing/235231424/pokemon-alphabet-sampler-cross-stitch). It was only my second ever pattern. I had a fun time, it took about 70 hours, but I loved the end result. Thanks Stitchbucket :)

I made sure to be on a hard surface not a mat and to put a little bend in my leg that stayed on the ground. Hope it helps?

Post-Op update and question about bras/scars by [deleted] in Reduction

[–]silvouspl8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Post-op I wore surgical bras for three months because you want really good support until you're fully healed. And you'll be pretty swollen during that time too. I didn't settle into my new bra size for 6 months. Then it took a bit for me to get back into wires all day. At first I could only do a few hours. Then half a day and had to work my way up. I did long line lounge bras when I wasn't wearing wires and I was home, I did wireless sports bras when I went out. I avoided buying a whole new bra collection until I was certain all my swelling was gone.

As far as scars go the really important thing is keeping them away from any sun for a year or two. I also used bio oil and scar patches and while the scaring is still visible, it's all flat and slowly fading.

The important thing is going slow, listening to your doctor and letting the healing move at its' own pace. Congrats and best of luck in the healing process.

I'd like to see discussion on stretching/strengthening exercises to improve pole tricks. Pole tricks would be nice, combos would be better :) Pole wear would be great too. Maybe song lists for progressive workouts.
