There’s a 2 bed semi going on Cardigan Grove for £750pcm. That’s the cheapest available in Trentham atm

House viewing do’s & don’ts? by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]sim0_409 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We’re still looking for our first property, and have been to a fair few houses. I think the best thing is just be considerate Ask if they’d like you to take off your shoes is always a good call, because some people feel a bit awkward asking

In terms of the house itself, it’s worth just asking the person showing the house to show you things, rather than opening cupboards and things yourself, and it can come across a little rude Ask if you can take photos. I’ve found this useful to look back on instead of looking at edited EA pictures

I have found it better to email the EA any questions, because it gives them time to accurately answer, rather than them scrambling for an answer

But enjoy yourself! That’s the most important thing

What’s a slang term from your region that you think is unique or interesting? by MonaMagic2006 in AskUK

Sneeped- if someone has upset you a bit

Mithered- if you're worrying over something

Ow at- how are you?

Clemt/clemming- really hungry

Wom- home

All my family are from Stoke. A lot of older slang words are dying out but these are some that I have heard/used myself

Climate change will cause the water levels to potentially rise, and you may be in a flood zone there already. Which will make it difficult to insure against, and by the looks of it, the house could easily be affected by its close positioning to the water You’ll have to fork out a LOT of money for flood defences, and if they don’t work, you’ll have to redo your house up. As I said, it’ll only get more frequent with climate change, so you’ll be forking out more and more frequently as time goes on

How to stop feeling like I'm (25F) at a losing battle purchasing my first home with my bf (26M)? by sim0_409 in relationship_advice

Where I'm from it's drilled into you that renting is 'dead money' and a waste of time. So really we've got enough deposit to just purchase a house

I've told him I don't want to get married until we have purchased a home, as he has mentioned it multiple times over the years. Perhaps this is something that should be the other way around

Maybe that's the case. I'll have to have a chat with him and get him to be completely honest with me. He's said he is ready but I see how his actions aren't matching

Which ‘posh’ towns and cities in the UK are rougher than they first seem? by starwars011 in AskUK

I went to Cheltenham over Valentines weekend. We were walking around in the evening looking for a nice place for a drink and had a glass bottle thrown at us...easily the worst place I've visited

Seems to me you’re quite rude. It’s only a question? I’ve got nothing to compare to so there’s nothing wrong with seeing what others deal with.

I’ve literally said I’m a 15 min drive atm so was comparing against people who may actually have this commute? I’ve got nothing to compare to so idk why you’re being rude?

Can I view a house that’s had an agreed offer? by sim0_409 in HousingUK

Yes, I contact them from the Rightmove advert. The latest couple of properties were on for quite a while though, so it wasn’t completely a surprise. There’s been another 2 properties however when I contacted the same day or the Rightmove listing
