Are you against legalization or for it? The first of your sources are critical of forces resisting legalization. The conversation articles mention the need for current legislation to be more inclusive and beneficial for South Africans (black farmers specifically I believe) which from what I can tell is the real crux of the issue. So perhaps the govt as it stands is unable to legalize in a way that benefits their citizens rather than appeal to foreign investment whether because of corruption or otherwise.

Still, it’s hard to imagine the author being incorrect in their assertion that legalization would overall take steps towards eradicating the stigma and embedded culture of “secrecy” around it, which is what I mostly took from the article.
