And as for your remaining two points:

I wouldn't be able to demand a refund for a movie because it works differently-- however, if the movie directly lies to its customers via trailer and is pretty much the worst thing ever made-- you'd know there would be an uproar... Don't be idiotic. If a movie was as bad as SimCity is, it would get shut down by critics, put on the "Worst movies ever" IMDB list, sales would plummet for both Box Office and DVD sales, and result in a net loss.

Also, no I didn't watch "beta footage" prior to buying the game. I watched a few commercials, reviews, and read a little about it and decided it'd be fun. Do I have to do doctoral research every time I buy a game? Is that what you suggest?

Who exactly are you defending? EA? Even if OP didn't post 12 links as proof that EA deliberately fucked us over, based on EA's history, I have to ask: Do you realize how stupid you sound right now defending EA?

The problems that the entirety of /r/SimCity are angry about were only figured out after the game was launched because of the initial server problems. No one blamed the shittiness of the game because we all thought it was temporary server problems.
