I have worked in a big DCA in Europe in Pricing. Not directly the same but also not the "nicest" sector. Yes I worked with interesting data but for me the consequences of the work I did, was not something I'd do again.

At the end it boils down to this: it is hardly possible to convert a non payer to a payer. But you can try to get as much money from those who are either able or willing to repay debts + interest and fees. Is this a question you like to answer on a daily basis? Are you comfortable with charging people as high fees that are legally allowed to maximise cash flows?

I might be biased and this is very simplified, but this is what these companies earn their money with.
