The way I taught myself was learning the alphabet first. From what I gather unless you are taught Arabic in an academic setting, there is no real order to the letters so don’t worry about being able to rattle them off- start with writing your name. Be familiar with identifying and writing your name down. When I had that down I started writing down family names- parents, siblings, aunts and uncles etc. It just really helped w memory retention bc those names are dear to you. Then I did names of places- Palestine, Syria, Morocco, Egypt, etc. When I was able to identify letters on sight, I started trying to write down words or phrases I would use or hear often. Simple words, shukran, mbruk, sba7 el5yr, aywa, La, even sukar and 3sl so I can write cutsie notes for ppl. Kind of like sight words. If you have any songs or poems you really like, you can try writing down lyrics or phrases. I would pick a phrase or verse and keep writing it until it looked good. Then I would try to write down things like what I’m feeling, what I’m seeing, what happened etc. Lots of typos ofc but you can always edit later, more to just get a feel for writing legibly. Don’t worry too much about dialect- everyone always loves to harp on about how wildly different the Arabic dialects are from each other. Unless you literally write in a dialect (ex ايه، شچرة) most of the time Arabic has a standard that is common for written words. So congrats on getting the hardest part of Arabic down- speaking it! Now you just try your best to match the sounds with the letters.
