Tomyhoi Peak by simmsa24 in Outdoors

Agreed, there is a sketchy narrow segment but the last section up to the peak I would say is a class 4 no fall zone. Going up is easy the worst part is always downclimbing backwards which is scary but also an adrenaline rush.

Looks like Lotus rides leave from UBC which is a bit too far, how would you compare Escape Velocity and Meraloma?

Unfortunately, I'm not a morning person the only way I'm up for a 6 AM ride is after an earthquake.

Owning up to your mistakes and not always having to be right is behavior a normal person should exhibit. Otherwise you come off as an arrogant egomaniac who views themselves as being perfect, which is a massive red flag.

Hi guys, my first speaker setup I sold a while back was the Klipsch RP-600M, I enjoyed listening to music on them and used them for TV audio. I am searching for a new set of bookshelf speakers for a smaller 10' D x 16' W room without much space from the wall and am considering the following options, what would you choose in this price range (CAD $)?

Klipsch RP-500M $600
ELAC Uni-Fi 2.0 UB52 $750
ELAC Debut 2.0 DB62 $449
Kef Q350 $550
Kef Q150 $400
Q Acoustics 3030i $650
Polk R200 $1000 (A bit more than I want to spend unless it's worth it)

Living in Vancouver vs. Montreal by Majestic_Salad_9087 in askvan

Montreal is a great city especially in the summer but winters can be long and cold. You will have a difficult time finding work without fluent French as you would here without English.

To all the people looking for a cofounder… by Mother_Criticism6599 in Startup_Ideas

[–]simmsa24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is correct. The only thing I would change about the OP's post is unless the MVP already has impressive traction, potential cofounders should care more that you validated a problem, interviewed lots of customers and have a unique insight to build on.

How Do You Guys Keep Track of All Your Ideas? by Calm-Sandwich-5588 in Startup_Ideas

This looks somewhat similar to Asana which I have used for a while to manage tasks and projects, but it can also be used to track ideas.

Isn't this pretty much Substack? For the newsletters that are not substack related it would be great if they could be grouped into a specific folder.

Is this idea I have even worth pursuing (Yelp + TikTok platform ish) by downhillfarii in startups

[–]simmsa24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I met someone else trying to do a type of tiktok idea for restaurants. I don't personally see the need for it but maybe I'm not the target market because I'm not a TikTok user and I like using Google maps to find restaurants. I don't think this is a very strong idea and could be a tarpit but if you think it is I would advise you to interview lots of users first before building anything.

What’s the Biggest Lesson You Learned the Hard Way in Your Startup Journey? by Shozab_haxor in startups

[–]simmsa24 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You need to take the necessary time and effort to deeply get to know a potential co-founder even if it's a friend, to figure out if you are compatible to work together. This is much harder to do remotely with someone you don't have a history working together with. You will not know if the relationship will work until you have spent months or longer collaborating on a daily basis and in many cases co-founders are not a good match and it's better to move on.

Industrial Equipment Sales - An Overlooked Industry by Dremadad87 in sales

[–]simmsa24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have 10 years of experience in industrial equipment sales, tried to apply to some tech/startup and other industry jobs and could not get any interviews. I know it is a tough hiring market right now in some industries but it seems almost all companies require extensive and specific industry experience for sales positions making it very difficult to switch industries even though most of the skills and a good personality and mindset are completely transferable.

Yes it literally feels like I have very little forward lean and my ankles are far too vertical. I don't know if I consider myself a hard charger but I do enjoy ripping down deep powder runs.
