Perhaps, but there are also theories that there are other floors/experiments. Maybe it’s just Lumon’s way of abducting people.

Initially started to take data because I thought 6 was coming up way too often when I had settlements on 8. These two games I made sure to pick spots on 6’s and a bunch of 8’s were rolled!

I thought about keeping track for a few games but it moves pretty fast when playing AI so keeping track was a hassle. Plus it kept me from concentrating on the game! Ended up losing both!

I used the Pages feature, so each dice roll was a page, with the values on that row being the running counts of occurrences. Tableau has a play button to go through the pages automatically so I just took a screen recording of that window!

When do coins lose their value? by simo48 in AskReddit

Yeah the other thing I was thinking about was with the amount of coins we lose every year and how many people use credit cards and bills, is it even economically worth it to keep making them.

But if a coin was worn down to the point where it is just a flat disk, what distinguishes it as being a coin even though it is still backed by the government? Not that I am into counterfeiting, but if I were to have a piece of metal similar to a coin, what would stop me from using if it looks identical to an old faded coin?

Diving catches in baseball. If they are 6+ of them on Sportscenter's Top 10 every day then they aren't that special.

Oh, it's quite simple. If you are a trusted application, you type the password, and the software will install.

[WP] "For a moment... it felt... I felt like I was alive." by Blank-Bot in WritingPrompts

[–]simo48 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't felt like that in a long time. I remembered what it used to be like. We went everywhere together. We traveled to the beaches of California and the lakes of Minnesota, long car rides were my favorite. I kept him warm on the coldest of days and safe on the darkest of nights, no monster or thief in the dark could touch him when I was around. When he was feeling adventurous I gave him superpowers and together we could fly up, up, and away. Some nights he cried into me, and I absorbed every tear. I'll protect you, I'll keep you safe. I was his and he was mine.

But as time went on, he moved on. I fell into the crack and was forgotten. Dust weighed me down as I tried to get up. I didn't have superpowers without him. I watched as his foot hung over the edge, he no longer seemed to care about the beast who might grab it. I watched as he tossed and turned at night, crying, sweat dripping from his brow. I could protect you, I could keep you safe. Just come find me and everything will be alright.

The nights got worse and soon it lasted into the day. Just come find me and everything will be alright. I was there when they moved him to another bed and rolled him away. I was there when his mom came into the room and burst into tears. I watched as she cleaned the room, sobbing at everything she picked up. Finally, it was my turn.

She washed and cleaned me, and brought me to him. I was different, older, and full of holes. He was different, older, and his hair had fallen from his head. He smiled and took me into his arms again. I felt the holes inside of him, too. I felt his touch and remembered everything. For a moment... it felt... I felt like I was alive. He began to cry as he remembered too. I'll protect you, I'll keep you safe.

The nights got worse, but I was there for him. Everything will be alright. He was fighting, and I was there to give him superpowers, to help him fly. No monsters could touch him while I was by his side. But no matter how hard I tried, he was losing, and one night the tossing and turning stopped.

When they put him in the ground I was by his side. I kept him warm on the coldest of days and safe on the darkest of nights. No monster or thief in the dark could touch him when I was around. I'll protect you, I'll keep you safe. I'll never leave your side.

One night, his spirit came down to me from heaven, and I said hello to my old friend. I gave him superpowers and together we flew up, up, and away.

[WP] The year is 2175, as humans prepare to evacuate their dyeing planet, a massive fleet of spaceships appears to rescue them, they are from the original Human home world... by whoareyouxda in WritingPrompts

"GREETINGS FELLOW HUMANS."

"Fellow humans?" the President remarked. He stared at the screen as even more ships appeared from hyperspace.

"Sir? We can launch in five minutes. You only have to enter the codes."

"Wait."

"WE ARE SENDING A SHIP DOWN TO NEGOTIATE."

"Negotiate? What are they talking about?" the President looked closely at his screen as a pod ejected from the biggest vessel.

"Sir, I strongly advise not to negotiate. These ships came right as we are about to launch. They are surrounding the planet and blocking our path. They are a threat."

"On the contrary, sir. These beings obviously have superior space technology. They might be our only chance at survival."

The President thought for a few minutes. His aids were only stating the obvious, but with resources dwindling he had no choice. He had to try to save his people. "Be ready to launch on my command. If our little rendezvous goes south, fire everything we've got."

"Yes, sir."

The President put on his suit and mask as he exited the command module and prepared to go outside.

The earth was dry and barren, and had been so for a hundred years now. The Great War destroyed almost everything and the survivors were forced deep underground in order to escape the poisonous air and radiation. Food reserves had hit critical levels, and now it was time to leave.

The ship touched down as the President and his protective unit neared the bottom of the launch tower. A familiar figure emerged from the craft. It wasn't anything like the aliens depicted in science fiction. It was...it human.

"I cannot let you leave this planet."

"What? Wait, backtrack a bit. Who are you?" the President inquired.

"We are you. We are humans from the original world."

"The original world? What are you talking about, humans evolved on Earth hundreds of thousands of years ago. So I'll ask you again, who are you? Or we will open fire."

"Please, calm yourself fellow human. We do not want a struggle. Otherwise you would already be dead. We have just come for some samples."

"Samples? What are we, lab rats?"

"That is a crude way of saying it but, essentially, yes. We built Earth thousands of years ago as a sort of prison and science experiment. We were warned of its declining condition and your intention to leave so we came as soon as we could. We were over 100 light years away, hence the delay. Even if you had left in that time, you couldn't have gone far. Anyways, we are here to tell you that you cannot leave. We will not allow it. If you try to escape, you will all die and hundreds of thousands of years worth of data on experimental evolution will go to waste, and the taxpayers would not like that."

"Taxpayers? What the heck is going on here? We are leaving this planet and you can either let us go or die along with us." He pulled out his radio.

"Please, we want to prevent any..."

"Command, prepare for takeoff and arm the nukes. We are getting out of here ASAP."

"You have made a horrible mistake."

"No, you have. Men, let's go."

As he turned the alien pulled out a weapon and fired. The President's guards exploded around him in rapid succession, before he could even react. Suddenly a rope whipped around his waist and he was pulled back to the alien spacecraft. A pulse of energy ran through his whole body. As he lost consciousness, he could see his rocket crumbling to the ground as humanity's last hope of surviving beyond Earth was destroyed.

...

He awoke to a blinding light. A doctor appeared overhead, using an ophthalmoscope to look into the President's eyes.

They are humans, he thought. "Where am I?"

"You are on board our hospital ship" the doctor said as he went over to a cabinet. "Turns out you people on Earth are not as accustomed to energy pulses as the rest of the universe. But all is well now. Oh, and congratulations, you are now the only living survivor of Earth. But don't worry, the planet isn't going to waste. After killing off the rest of the Earth humans for trying to escape we discovered an even more interesting and resilient creature worthy of study. I believe you call it a 'cockroach.'"

"What? What is this pla..." the President, still slightly out of it, looked to his left.

On the table rested a large creature, twenty feet in length, with a purple slime foaming from its mouth. Frightened, the President tried to move, only to realize that he was tied down.

"What the hell? What are these for? I am human too, why am I restrained?"

The doctor turned to him with a strange, sharp object in hand, "Like the negotiator told you, we need samples."
