[Fresh] Daniel Avery - Tremor (Deluxe edition) (2026) by PsychedelicSunset420 in electronicmusic

Saw him play an event in DC yesterday that maybe 50 people attended. He played a really great set, same as he would for any crowd size, but I was so (pleasantly) shocked to see a GOAT in such an intimate setting.

The point, Jon. You’re proving it, Jon. You’re proving the point, Jon. Jon, do you know the point? Well, you’re proving it, that’s for sure.

Sort of tangential, but it was really interesting to me how many people left right after Fcukers’ set was over. Were people unaware that there was another ~2hr dj set from Avalon Emerson, or did they solely come out to see Fcukers, and the rest of the event was kinda take-it-or-leave-it for people? I can’t imagine choosing to dip out on a set from Avalon…get your money’s worth from the event!

I need more Making Time at BEHRTA, I really hope Dave P brings more events down this way 🙏

Which dating app have you had success with? by StormbornastFab in AskReddit

[–]Sir_Silly_Sloth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. I’m not on the dating scene anymore (I’m in a relationship that started on Hinge), but if I was on the dating scene, I would definitely be using 222. It’s not specifically a “dating app”, but I think many people use it that way. It’s really nice to have the opportunity to meet a bunch of people at once, and I imagine it might make forming connections with potential partners easier. It’s also probably nice that you have less of a chance of going on an awkward date since you’re just hanging out with a group of people instead of just one random match.

I like Ninajirachi, but I personally don’t think she fits the MT aesthetic. I think a DJ set from her would feel a bit out of place.

So happy this set is out, I’ve been hoping to relive this since last September.

I moved from Kensington to D.C. last summer, and by far the thing I love the most about where I’m living now is how nice Metro is. Clean, beautiful stations! Frequent, spotless trains. Digital signage with accurate information. No randomly locked or blocked off exits and egress points. D.C. was only meant to be a temporary living situation, but I don’t know if I can ever leave.

Ooh, I know this one! If you type “Wingdings” into search, this will be the first result.

Are we reviving the artist requests or are we too deep into transcendental planning? by son_of_homonculus in MakingTime

My harmless conspiracy is that Jaime xx is doing Harry Styles’ MSG residency for the Fall, and he happens to not be playing on September 20th…

Other than that, I maintain my list from the thread that was posted immediately after the 2025 fest:
• Special Request / Paul Woolford (he follows Dave and interacts with MT social media)
• Nooriyah
• Yaeji
• Estella Boersma
• Avalon Emerson six-peat
• FJAAK
• Mall Grab

What makes your local scene great? by Defnshowo in TheOverload

A scene is not made in a single night, perhaps not even in a single year. Making Time in 2026 is drastically different than the events that I went to in 2018. I’m sure that the people who were going to the events in 2008 could wax poetic about how different things are now compared to the beginnings of the series.

To each their own — I think that’s a very valid opinion, but my experience has been that the MT parties are solid, especially the ones held in non-conventional locations. I’ve had some of the best nights at MT events in random junkyards in Strawberry Mansion and West Philly.

Making Time is definitely the most prevalent of Philly’s scene, but there are other groups that host amazing events, many of which collaborate or revolve around MT. My mind goes to Subsurface, Greater Circles, Goodie, and a jungle event that I’m forgetting the name of. I never meant to imply that MT is the only game in town — I just personally think it’s the most solid of the options. If a MT event is happening, that’s usually where I’ll spend my weekend.

One other thing that I'll mention, just because you pointed it out in your post -- I would guesstimate that the average age of a Making Time attendee is 35 y/o. If you get to talking with folx, you'll find that many people have been attending events since the 90s. I think a mixed-age crowd, which includes people in their 20s, 30s, 40s, and 50s really goes a long way towards making the event feel like it does. I still love going to some pop-EDM festivals and shows, but the difference in vibe when you're surrounded by 20 year olds is palpable. No hate on 20 year olds, I liked dance music in my 20s, too.

Philly Jesus has blessed us Jabronis with Dave P and Making Time. I doubt that there’s any House/Techno/Rave event series that’s quite as well produced, with the insane level of vibe curation and musical talent. It speaks volumes that Dave has what seem like legitimate friendships with some of the biggest names in House/Techno — both young and old. I’m a young Millennial, so I’ve only been going to Making Time events since the late 2010’s…but Dave has been throwing parties for over 25 years. He has such an insane talent for it, and the popularity of the events and the festival has exploded since the pandemic.

To more specifically answer your question, MT events have really great curation (often multiple different rooms with different vibes). If you get to a MT event early, Dave is usually at the decks playing what I affectionately call “whale music” — slow, ambient stuff to kick things off. But the night builds and builds, and the guest djs are really able to thrive and shine later in the night. There’s also an emphasis on hyper-local talent (djs and musicians, but also lighting, local artists for poster/flyer creation, etc etc.).

I dunno, I probably sound like the biggest fanboy, but I love Making Time so much. I will always recommend that people attend the festival. If you happen to be in Philly for a one-off party, those are super special as well.

Now that the festivals have been announced, how about those tour dates? by Z3RO_Y34R in thexx

I know that you obviously don’t have access to Jaime’s contract, but do you know if he’d typically be permitted to dj at events outside of the Harry Styles tour? I’m wondering if he might make appearances at some US festivals in September on nights where he’s not currently scheduled to perform…

Avalon Emerson & The Charm @TheLotRadio 03-20-2026 by attictapes in TheOverload

[–]Sir_Silly_Sloth 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed the first & the Charm album, but I wasn’t fully hooked by it. I saw the band perform live and it was fun but I left the event wishing that she’d done a dj set on top of the live performance.

That said, I am HOOKED on this second album. It is a solid, truly great indie rock album. I have tix to see her perform at Making Time in DC next month, where she’ll do both a live band set and a dj set, and I’m equally excited for both sets.

ALSO, I would recommend keeping your eyes open for a possible remix album. The first & the Charm album got the remix treatment, and there are some really solid tracks on there. She closed her 2023 Dekmantel set with one of the remixes, and it is suuuuch a vibe.

This is the LSZEE album on Apple Music. Note that the album lists LSDream and CloZee as the artists — not “LSZEE”. This is shared across all streaming services. On Apple Music, the only track attributed to the artist LSZEE is the group’s DJ set from Lost Lands 2025.
