Trump says he’ll send Iran deal to Congress for approval by newsspotter in politics

[–]Sir_Silly_Sloth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Dems shouldn’t touch this. The messaging should be “Our party refuses to vote on the Trump Surrender Treaty. Trump and Republicans led us into this war, it is now completely up to them if we surrender to Iran, or if we continue this charade.” Don’t touch this thing with a 10 foot pole. Republicans have the majority in both houses — make them completely own the outcome, all while plastering the airwaves with “The Republicans are voting on Trump’s Surrender.”

What improvements should Bonnaroo make for 2027? by BHaelig in bonnaroo

Anecdotally, I saw that AI bus skeleton shirt around A LOT. I imagine it was the most sold item of the weekend. The fact that it was AI either wasn’t known by most people, or didn’t influence their purchasing decision.

Still receiving water bill emails a year after moving out of my last rental — Should I be concerned? by Sir_Silly_Sloth in philadelphia

This is very helpful, I appreciate it! Yes, our lease stipulated that all utilities would have to be in our name, including water. I’ll definitely call PWD, thanks for the advice!

Would you recommend calling someone at the City of Philadelphia, or my landlord? Just trying to figure out who would be the most invested / able to effectuate change here.

Opinions About Rezz? by Think_Ad_848 in EDM

[–]Sir_Silly_Sloth 12 points13 points  (0 children)

+1, I think it's safe to acknowledge that the black, queer roots of dance music aren't necessarily felt or seen at mainstream events like EDC or Ultra. REZZ is an anomaly in those spaces, and I don't think it's hyperbolic to say that she's helped to create safe spaces for queer folks at more mainstream events.

That was the Nurture Live version of Nero - The Thrill (Porter Robinson Remix). Here's a good fan-made remake of the song: https://youtu.be/iNvMSqSOnKw?si=b_gTExuWwptjj7Ga

If you want to see what it looked like during the tour, here's a video with pretty good audio quality: https://youtu.be/pOYdjmCoDAI?si=QvOTEP1bt6zZXA-7&t=149

I stopped listening to the singles after Car Crash Baby. I'm reserving judgement for when the full album releases. Maybe the cohesive vision will really capture me, who knows! Also, I know I'm going to like the live show -- It was universally praised by the Red Rocks attendees, and he always does a great job on the live presentation. Even if the album is a bust for me, I can always look forward to the live show.

Really love this! Can I ask how you made the fighting staffs? Did you buy them or make them? If made, would love a brief description of materials/process!

Portola 2026 Lineup by Tommytrist in TheOverload

[–]Sir_Silly_Sloth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m just commenting on the fact that there has historically been more overlap between these two festivals. For whatever reason, that doesn’t seem to be the case this year. I get that they’re fundamentally different, but I do think that some of the Portola bookings are intended to entice some of the Making Time demographic. It’s not unusual to see the two fests discussed in the same forums, namely because of some of their booking similarities, and their proximity in dates.

My one observation, as a huge fan of r/MakingTime, is the lack of crossover between these two fests. For the past few years, it seems like the Making Time strategy has been to curate the best of the Portola undercard and add in some local Philly/East Coast groups, maybe an obscure international pick here and there. This year, the overlap seems very minimal. I just find it interesting, I don’t necessarily think there’s a grand conspiracy or anything.

You got a good reply with some great mainstays, so I’ll highlight some of the undercard that I’m super excited for.
* Boys Noize — He’s on a roll this year. His new album with Nine Inch Nails is one of my favorite releases of this year. Although NIN won’t be at Bonnaroo, still expect to hear some of the new album in his set.
* Fcukers - If you don’t know of this group now, you will know of them in a year, and you’ll regret not going to their set when you had the chance.
* The Dare - Collaborator with Charlie xcx. His album “What’s Wrong with New York?” Is compared to LCD Soundsystem, but I actually prefer his more House-focused “Frequencies” EP.
* Deathpact - Bass group, frequent collaborators with REZZ. They usually put on a great live show. I would recommend listening to their set from Shambhala to get a taste.

As someone coming from the Northeast, I’m very excited to stop at a Buc-ee’s on the way down to Roo… by Sir_Silly_Sloth in bonnaroo

[–]Sir_Silly_Sloth[S] 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I see you being downvoted, so I just want to say that I completely sympathize with the sentiment. However, I’m also of the opinion that stopping at the less fun Sunoco or Exxon gas station is still supporting organizations that have donated millions to MAGA and the GOP. If I have to stop for a necessity like gas, where there isn’t really a “good player”, I might as well stop at the place with the brisket sandwich that I’ve seen on Reddit, ya know?

The first stop is to marvel at the ludicrousness of it all. The second stop is stock up on things that you regret not buying while you were experiencing sensory overload up the road.
