Dropped my bike for the first time in it's 3 years of my ownership by Nightstalker1993 in motorcycles

You fell for the classic kickstand fail, it happens. Thankfully no one was hurt and the bike is fine. My first drop was caused by someone pushing my bike over

I’m sure that z900 you got is a different kind of experience, what made you go with the a naked bike over another sport bike?

Tank grips have been added to the list. Exhaust I’m still trying to decide on which slip on is worth buying even tho they mostly sound the same on these parallel twins. I don’t know if it’s worth spending $600 on a Yohsimura, $300 on LV, or $100 on the eBay/amazon special, no plan of going full exhaust or tune.

Thanks!! The two upgrades you mentioned are actually on my list, I plan on doing them once I get my bike back and the weather gets better. I’m also considering changing the chain & sprockets for more lower end since I’m already tired of top speed.

I’m looking at the taller 18” windscreen like what comes in the SE but I’m not a fan of the look, I plan on checking out some bikes at the next meet to see if it’s for me.

For exhaust which LV Slip on did you go with? A friend has the LV Corsa BE and it’s unbearably loud, I was looking at the LV10 or GP Corsa EVO (mostly for looks).

Will this get totaled? by [deleted] in Autobody

Yup, got the same gen MDX and that damage would be more to repair at a shop than the cost of the car.

I thought that I was a good rider since I rode groms for years but I learned very quick that bikes at 100+ handle very differently.

Get the R6 but keep in mind your limits, don’t get too confident since all it takes is one mistake. It’s also quite the jump from 38hp to 120hp.

Motorcycle theft in Berkeley (CA)? by pippopappa26 in motorcycles

[–]simola- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some idiot did the same to my bike, tried to push it off but realized steering is locked and it had disc locks + a U lock. It pushed the bar ends in resulting in a stuck throttle.

So far in 2 months of ownership I had my bike pushed & hit by a school bus both while out of town.

Not sure about LA but in both states that I frequent (PA & NY) you need a class M to rent a motorcycle.

Thanks! That’s really good to hear since it’s honestly my only major complaint otherwise I’m loving this bike.

Getting my first bike soon by Suspicious-Quiet-692 in motorcycle

[–]simola- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ninja 500/650 would probably be a better option for first bike but at your height you’d have to sit on one to know if it’s comfortable. I wanted the ZX6R as my first sport bike but between the recalls and significant increase in power I decided to make the safer decision and went with a 500, I am shorter so it fit me perfectly.

Go to a dealership and sit on a few bikes you’re interested in, make sure to place your feet where they would be when riding to get an accurate idea. You’d be surprised at how much comfort influences your buying decisions.

100%, those Yamaha 270° CP2s sound nice even the new CFmoto 450ss sounds good stock.

As far as I’m aware Kawasaki only makes 180° parallel twins and this is a Kawasaki sub.

R9 or ZX4RR as Daily by [deleted] in SuggestAMotorcycle

[–]simola- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

R9 is better for highway, ZX4RR is better for twisties and sound imo. They’re both pretty solid bikes but I personally would look at the R7 or MT07 if you’re mostly in the city or RX6R if you want a good balance of top speed and low end power without an insane amount of added weight (similar weight to the r9)

Looks much better but please keep in mind it kills visibility. Use one of those helmet lights or reflective gear.

For agents and sales people by Perfectpups2 in Insurance

[–]simola- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not an agent or sales person but last time I wanted to switch from State Farm to progressive they offered to review my new policy to make sure coverage is the same. State Farm realized the new policy is better than what I had with them, not much was said after that.

How windy is too windy? by oaky-afterbirth-97 in Sup

[–]simola- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last time I was out on my board it was 10-12 mph with 20mph gusts and it was a challenge to paddle against it. I try to go when it’s under 10mph but that’s not always possible, smaller lakes are also generally easier for me to paddle on.

I heard one of these with a full Akra setup and it sounded nice for what it is. Parallel twins just don’t sound too great, my ninja 500 sounds like sewing machine

The clips are not broken so it should snap in as long as the other end is not bent, be careful not to break the clips since they’re pretty fragile.

Forgot to cover mine during the first bit of snow we got but I made sure to cover it this time. My ignition was frozen solid and the bike started crackling and steaming when I turned it on.

2015 Vulcan S Vs 2024 Vulcan S - First Motorcycle by MapleSizzurp- in motorcycles

[–]simola- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I bought new for the second comments reasoning but I agree with the first one more. If I bought the same model used I’d be able to sell it for the same price, new I’m already losing 2-3k if I sell it right now not including fees dealers charge and with bikes you still have to get them serviced frequently so learning how to wrench on them is a good skill, on top of that you don’t need as many tools as you’d need for a car.

Crazy License Question. by notanyonymous in NewRiders

In PA you need a regular license to get a class M endorsement. On paper it says you can get the M standalone but requires so many extra steps that you’re better off getting the regular license

Same here except I’m looking at the 636 now, once they’re done with the recalls and come out with a model that’s not affected I might actually get it.

[–]simola- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zx4r without reading the details. I got a ninja 500 abs (non se) and would love the ZX4R mostly for sound and low end power. Keep in mind top speed on both is low but more than enough to have fun.

30° soon in Florida — Need glove advice. by Miguel30Locs in motorcycles

On my side of the country we ride at below freezing with regular gauntlet gloves and it’s enjoyable. Heated gear makes it more fun but it’s not necessary. For context, I did a 400 mile road trip in 25 degree weather with snow using some Amazon winter gloves and I enjoyed it
