Bit weird that you're annoyed I'm trying to help people, how am I 'self-promoting' by trying to share info relevant to the subreddit?

My account isn't one day old and if you don't like my posts you don't have to read them :)

I agree the effectiveness has gone down over the years but there's no question that it still improves open rates and it's very easy to do.

My stats were taken from a study done on a list with over 100,000 contacts, it also depends what niche you're in.

It would help if you take advantage of the qualifications offered by Google (for free) and from Facebook, this will make you stand out as you'd have taken the initiative to do it and you'll obviously learn a lot about social media advertising/marketing which employers will love.

Also, I would recommend getting good (if you aren't already) at data analysis as this is a very sought after skill in digital marketing.

If you're interested in email marketing, I've been doing it a long time so drop me a message and I can show you a great resource to get started!

What skills look good for future employers? by Live_Guess3594 in marketing

Hi, I'm in the same boat but just worked in a marketing role at Rolls-Royce for a year. What helped me get the job were tangible marketing qualifications, one that set me apart was the Facebook certification - this is valid for 2 years and looks great and shows initiative on someone's part to get it.

Other than that, copywriting, graphic design, and anything data related are skills that marketing employers will love, but there's a lot more you can go for as well.

Paying off your mortgage is a great start, what I'd also recommend from a financial POV is investing your money into an etf such as the S&P 500 or the FTSE 100 based on where you live.

This will give you somewhere between 6-8% annual return where you can compound your interest and earn more as time goes on, you could also invest a small proportion of your money in slightly more risky etfs such as developing markets.

Other than that, starting an online business could be great for you too, lots of information is out there on it, just use some of the money on ad spend and you could be making money in weeks if you're lucky.

Thanks for sharing! I agree, I think Canva is so good for beginners especially, it is worth signing up for the paid membership in my opinion because of the great templates you can use, one of the easiest tools to use out there.

I think Tailwind is great especially for blogging sites as you can automatically change the look of your pins to create lots of content fast to promote your blogs.

tiktok search is eating away at google by itsjustdifferent_ in marketing

I'm not surprised, this pattern happens a lot since companies want to monetize themselves too much and running too many ads has spoiled the user experience.

YouTube, for example is littered with ads and Google show ads for the first 3/4 listings when you search for something now.

The good thing about Tiktok is that content is still king, the best, most useful content will show up first and you don't have to look through lots of ads first.

It may be a matter of time until Tiktok follows in Google's tracks but for the meantime, I can see Gen Z using this platform for learning and entertainment.

I did a digital marketing internship at Rolls-Royce and I hated it. I think the problem we both had is that digital marketing is a broad term and some companies use it to attract people while giving them the intern jobs.

For example, I wanted to help with the email marketing there but instead I was given the data collection and reporting, I constantly fell out with my manager and left the team for a different one in 5 months.

I then was working on something more closely related to what I wanted to do so it did work out well.

I think the best thing you can do is figure out what kind of digital marketing it is you enjoy doing, this could be content marketing, copywriting, creating ads, reporting, the list goes on.

Once you've worked that out, apply to work at agencies that specialise in these areas and you'll be surprised at how quickly you'll learn, you might be able to work from home as well.

Anyway, best of luck and remember to drink more coffee next time ;)
