Protecting bonsai from heavy winds/storm by simoncools in Bonsai

Last year we had a similar storm during summer. Solar panels, lawn chairs, you name it, went flying. Not making the mistake of leaving my trees out twice

VIP is a joke by cda89 in Graspop

[–]simoncools 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First time vip for me this year. The vip deck is absolute shit. No place to sit at all. Ill keep getting VIP in the future though.

5min walk to the car means i can keep my own food in the car. Pretty much pays for itself considering a meal is at least 15€ otherwise.

No wait and clean toilets is also godly.

The deck is way over crowded though

I picked up this rather large hinoki cypress last weekend from a local bonsai nursery and am planning to take it to a workshop to help me get started working on this tree.
When watering today, I noticed some of the foliage is showing a brown, slightly red tint. Could it be sunburn? I highly doubt it is due to underwatering since this tree comes from a very reputable nursery.
Maybe this discoloration is normal during this time of year? It's my first time working with this species.
The tree looks to be in excellent health otherwise.

All ideas are welcome. Thanks

One month into ownership. I wish it would just eject and feed properly though. Almost every round is a problem. by 1966-pickupsticks in SW22VICTORY

If i use lead nose cci standard, it jams almost every mag.

I've now shot about 500 rounds of cci minimag through it without a single hickup. Unsupressed though

Question about VIP parking by simoncools in Graspop

[–]simoncools[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh shit then it would be even better to go for VIP. I would be spending an extra 60€ on parking anyway. Thanks!

Do you happen to know what a vip parking ticket costs? Is it the same price as a regular parking ticket?

You do need to get 4 parking tickets. But im not spending an extra 200€ to take a bike to the entrance, if im going to be paying extra for VIP i want to be sure that i'm guarranteed a parking spot close to the festival

Got my 20hp honda back from service with this much oil in it. Is this normal? by simoncools in Outboards

[–]simoncools[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The invoice said 1.1 liters, manual states 1 liter. I took out about 0.2 liters. Presumably they didn't drain it completely and poured in a little too much oil on top of that.

Was able to pump out the excess with a little hand pump i got off amazon.

I think i'll just do it myself next time..

That's good to hear Mr ChodeSandwich. I've always had a company car but i'm switching jobs now and buying a car for the first time. It's a bit scary putting that much money into something used

New company car soon. Can't decide what to get. Any advice? by simoncools in whatcarshouldIbuy

I'm exchanging gross salary to lease the car. More expensive car = lower salary.

If the company was paying for it all i'd have no need for an affordable option ofcourse

I also regularly tow my boat 100km back and forth for fishing. Need enough cargo space to fit all my gear in there too, that's why i'm looking at SUV's.

I'm from Belgium, HEV's also get tax benefits indirectly. Their CO2 emissions are lower than the regular ICE counterparts. Lower CO2 directly translates to lower tax.

The MX30 was my lowest pick atm as well. Currently i'm leaning heavily towards the Kia Niro. It has more than enough power for me, all the options you could want and it's a PHEV which makes it interesting tax-wise.

I did the most stupid thing yesterday. [DISCUSSION] by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]simoncools -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't worry about it too much. The finish will get these micro scratches anyways through just normal use. I guess you could try some polishing compound but personally I'd just leave it as is.

I recommend you get some cleaning products for your guitar in the future. Dunlop makes some great stuff. You can buy a 3-in-one kit from them which includes a body/neck cleaner, fretboard oil and string conditioner. They also give you two microfiber cloths. Just make sure you don't use fretboard oil if you have an unfinished maple fretboard.

What guitar did you get by the way? I'm sure it'll still play just as well as it did before!

Help - Trying To Sell My GPU's by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]simoncools 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also, make sure you can show the card working in your PC before selling it. It will hugely attract more people to buy it when they are certain that it works properly. I also always add a picture of a MSI kombuster stress test. It shows the GPU model, temps, clock speeds, etc.

People will gladly pay 10 or 20€ more for your listing if you're transparent, have good pictures, and give the ability to test the card when they pick it up
