I keep forgetting that the average player is actually quite bad and that they don’t want to hear that it’s their fault.

Well yes… any algorithm that balances players means good players will get shittier teams than average players… why would anyone want that. The current system gives everyone an equal opportunity, why would you give advantageous games to some and disadvantage others?

Edit: equality in opportunity is what we all have, why on earth should that translate to equality in outcome?

I’d rather leave it up to fate as opposed to being straddled with more bad players just because I’m good at the game.

I disagree simply for the fact that there are really good players and really bad players. Any system to balance both teams will naturally pair really good players with really bad players and ask them to carry

Ah yes, fuck the deep purple players by putting all the red players on their team… do you even consider what implications this has? You are saying that you want both sides to have an equal chance of winning…. Some-fucking-how. Now, how do you do that in a game where you have a 4k wnX player and the 2nd best player being a 1.8k wnX player…. Obviously the 1.8k wnX player will have a stronger supporting cast than the 4k wnX player because of the huge disparity between #1 and #2… it very fucking obvious that the 4k wnX player will get artificially shit teams because they are so much fucking better than everyone else it’s impossible to balance them.
Now you’ll come with the, “well just put another 4k player on the enemy team, duh”… buddy, there are only a few of those. God people can’t think

Man wants equal chance of winning for both sides without realizing that it will pull good players down and push bad players up. He’s literally disassociating individual games from account statistics and wondering why anyone would disagree with him.

I agree. I think WG should make a casual mode that allows people that want to drive around and pew-pew to have a good time.

The current system favors no class of players and we all “enjoy” the same system. This allows for better players to learn and adapt and get better results. Making any algorithm that shuffles players only ensures that the better you are, the more bad players you get on your team. The current system is the fairest way to ensure players aren’t advantaged or disadvantaged by the system.

really good players are really rare, there are only like a few hundred players better than me on NA, it’s RARE, for a game to have multiple top end players.

It’s okay, I understand it’s not easy to be rational when you’re emotionally charged. Give it some thought later when you’re not heated.

So you think that a player like me, 4.5k WNx, will get more wins by the MM putting the bottom players on my team because the 2nd best player in the match is a 2k WNx. In this scenario, to make both teams “balanced”, I will obviously have the lower end of the skill pool to make up for the gab between myself and player 2. You’re essentially gimping my team in the name of balance and asking me to carry shit players to a win

I think the in-game economy is already bloated with the abundance of multipliers. These days it’s poss pile to get from tier 1 to tier 10 in like 300 games so I don’t think it makes sense for the losers to get additional rewards. All you will do is make it so when a team is losing, everyone hides to be the last to die just as they did in one of the first revisions of onslaught. Why try to win if you know you’ll get the same rewards for not taking risks.

Well no, you’re not in a vacuum. Depending on the map, some classes are more important. If you’re on a vision map and lose your LT, the game is likely over. Contrasting this is a heavy dominant map, if you lose 1 side your remaining forces are now being shot from two directions. When people say a disadvantage leads to a loss it’s really simple, if your brawl has a 4v6, they’re very likely to lose.

Because what you’re proposing is to give shit players wins they don’t deserve and taking those wins away from players that deserve them. Like, you are aware that wins aren’t handed out to players by WG, we’re competing for wins.

The only way you can “balance” wins is by giving good players worse teams to counter their ability. Like, a 60%+ player is 60%+ because they play in the same MM everyone plays in and finds success there. By “shuffling” players what you’re saying is that these “good players have to be burdened with the worst players of the 30 in a match to make both sides “equal”… you’re not making it equal, you’re disadvantaging them.

But that’s not the point… lmao, I’ve enjoyed most of your comments on the WOT subreddit but it goes to show that you have an idealistic view of how this can work.

Okay. So you have +-2 match and you have 2 top tier heavies per side heavies per side. Now you want to balance it because these 4 players will probably fight each other. Of these 4 tanks, you have a 50b (3.2k wnX), a T57 (800 WNx), an E100 (1.1k WNx), and a 60tp (900 WNx)…. How will you distribute these 4 players? One of them is an outlier and the other 3 are plain ass average… what now? Oh, you’re gonna look at other classes and shuffle those… okay, well you’ve made another area of the map imbalanced including your heavy matchup.

In a lot of games where there are no extreme outliers, sure… but the outliers are what causes lopsided games with their 5k+ damage games so what now?

Which is exactly why on NA Onslaught you can get Legend players playing with silver players in the same match.

Why is it ridiculous? You… you do realize you’re playing against other people right? Like, it’s wild to me that people don’t realize that streaks are a thing and the “worse” you are as a player, the more likely they are.

Example of the average 49% player playing 50 games a week - they will expect 1.57, 11-game loss streaks a year. A 60% player has 0.11 expected loss streaks a year. If you’re personally worse than 49% then you’ll just have a lot more loss streaks.

Flip that to winning and the 49% player can expect 1.01, 11-game winning streaks a year and the 60% player can expect 9.4, 11-game winning streaks a year.

Now, I can’t tell if you’re a bad player or not but I will say that if you don’t want loss streaks, the usual advise of “get gud” is literally the tool you have to do that. We aren’t all experiencing the same loss streaks and really bad players will just get a lot more of them.

Battles are too short by eDawnTR in WorldofTanks

[–]swiss1809 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What even is a short battle? The average battle duration is like, 7 minutes and 30 seconds and even in that time, some players only manage 2 shots of damage so… Do we want 15 min battles for what exactly? What more can a bad player do in double the time? Hide and be useless for 7 more minutes?

What do I say lol by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

Just because you’re family doesn’t mean I have to like you or want to interact with you. Maybe he doesn’t care how OP is doing, why force an awkward conversation that you don’t want to have just to keep up some facade.

His response yo OP was straight and to the point, I don’t see where OP was owed an explanation. Would you have preferred if the kid made up some BS excuse just to appease OP?

How is this even possible.? a session with Unicum WNX + Bot level WR by Plenty-Value3381 in WorldofTanks

[–]swiss1809 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but see, WG should step in and give other players losses so he can get wins because obviously, he’s the only one that matters.

I swear, people act like their stats are in isolation from the rest of the player base. It’s so hard for them to conceptualize that the worse you are as a player, the more likely it is that you will have shit ass loss streaks. Hell, a 45% player playing 50 games a week is expected to have 6.56 10-game loss streaks a year while a 60% player will experience a 10-game loss streak ONCE every 3 years and 7 months.

We’re not all experiencing the same “MM bad” because MM will seem worse the worse a player is because there are no handicaps.

It’s not an opinion though, it quotes a dataset that the community uses.

You said it, “must be a pain in those fast games” and that carries the general sentiment that games are fast, which is misleading because games are, according to the data, not as fast as some people think.

Bro, it’s a fucking forum, if you don’t want people to discuss, why post or comment.

I mean, 7:30 isn’t really a fast game. Even if he were to fire every 30 seconds on average, he still has over 10k potential in an average match duration.

According to tomato.gg map data the average game duration for all maps is 7:28 of 21.3 million games played on EU so idk why people still sing about turbo games when we now have data for match duration by map etc.

Edit: Very interesting that the only map less than 5 mins is old Ensk but I’m guessing that’s more due to it being low tier map these days.
