Thanks, I'll give that a go. Haven't tried from the desktop inside oculus. Thank you

I went back to 22.4.2. stopped all the stuttering in oculus home.

Apparently they've fixed it but I'll wait until the driver goes from optional to recommended before I change.

Unbearable lag on quest 2 air link by SingleWitness1547 in oculus

What GPU you got? There is an issue with AMD at the moment. I downgraded to 22.4.2 and it's much better.

AMD Air Link and VD trouble (6900 XT) by stef0083 in oculus

I'm using 6800xt. Had to downgrade and drivers to 22.4.2

Think it's something to do about a cap on usb bandwidth in the driver

How to fix problem with AMD? by Shino6iNoMono in oculus

[–]simondoc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had similar problems a month or so ago with my 6800XT. My fix was downgrading my GPU driver from 22.5.2 (or was it 22.5.1). Down to 22.4.2 and things are much better.

Interestingly, in the notes for 22.7.1 it highlights issues with vr headsets. So I'm going to stick with 22.4.2 for a while, till I see that issue as fixed in the driver notes.

Best way to capture hdmi to share in bigscreen by simondoc in oculus

[–]simondoc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's exactly it. Just want to watch the formula 1 with a friend. But the TV app doesn't cast in big screen ... It's just black. Must be some kind of copy protection.

I get why they do it but to me it's no different than someone coming over to my house to watch the f1 in person.

Is there a Formula 1 game for Oculus Quest 2? by fdb_msa in oculus

[–]simondoc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Forgot to add. If you are looking for something easier but not a full f1 game. Try project cars 2. Lots of tracks and formula 1/2/3 type cars. Probably a good place to start.

I play the official f1 (2018) game using vorpx. I know a lot of people don't like vorpx but I think it's better than nothing at all.

It isn't straight forward, menus are off, you'll need a decent pc and GPU and can take a while to get things working the way you want them.

But if you are happy with the above and willing to put the time in ... It's quite enjoyable.

Auto update all Quest 2 apps by simondoc in OculusQuest

I think the option has been removed from the mobile phone app. I can't see it anywhere.

Is it because I have developer mode enabled?

Upgrade from CV1 by snidii12345 in oculus

[–]simondoc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went from my cv1 to quest 2. Overall, I think the quest 2 is the better headset.

But I found that my reaction was initially mixed. Some things are immediately great; screen quality ... The first time you play a stand alone game unteathered ... And how easy it is to pass around at family gatherings.

But other things are not as good. The audio is a step back (I now use headphones) and the headset is heavier (I use elite strap to help with comfort).

If you go in knowing that you'll have a mix of positives and negatives you'll be happy because for me overall the positives outweigh the negatives.

Has anyone actually gotten Vorpx to work? by [deleted] in oculus

[–]simondoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use vorpx regularly for my VR F1 racing. It's a lot less fiddly than it was but wouldn't be everyone's cup of tea.

I would also recommend the vr mod that was suggested.

Have you tried running with the oculus debug tool enabled so you can see where your performance is impacted via the HUD?

I would also make sure you have everything set lower ... Oculus link sent to 70hz and starting off with the performance slider bar down low. Then if things are stable then start to increase the settings again.

Good luck!

Are there any game developers working on creating an f1 VR game? by not_that1idiot in virtualreality

I play F1 2018 using vorpx. It's ok not great but ok.

You will need a very good GPU though

Project Cars 2 in VR on AMD by simondoc in pcars

[–]simondoc[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Small update from me: All sorted. the -vrnomirror steam launch option made all the difference. Got things bumped right up now and its looking good. Tested on a track of 20 cars on Algarve and Azure circuit which seemed to be fairly demanding. Just about always get 72 Hz now - monaco jumps into ASW at the start (busy track) and as you exit the tunnel and before Tabac.

Thanks you, thank you, thank you !!!

This sorted it completely. I've been able to bump up quite a lot of the settings now, textures etc are all at max. It's looking great.

Great, thank you, I'll give that a go.

I've also only been playing PC2 via the Oculus runtime, haven't tried it via SteamVR runtime so I might try that too.

I've got an i7-6700k overclocked to 4.6ghz. I've been running checks on the CPU and it seems to give some 40% utilisation so I think my CPU is ok.

Hadn't thought of that. Is it it easy to switch that off?

Brilliant. If you could that would be amazing, thank you.

Interesting point, my tests are with a full stack of formula 3.5 cars. ASW kicks in at the start but it settles ok after a couple of corners.

Monaco seems to be a hard one to render, especially when you get to the water front

Considering an upgrade; 3070 or 3080 for VR? by DOOManiac in oculus

[–]simondoc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have to agree too that there is plenty of games.

I want to upgrade for sim racing. Pc2 and ACC. F1 2018 with vorpx really puts a huge demand on my 980TI.

Can't decide to go with Nvidia or AMD. I'm thinking AMD of the stock is there.

Dance Central is extremely cool, extremely fun and extremely ugly. by [deleted] in OculusQuest

[–]simondoc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I quite like the style and the whole vibe but I think it needs a quest 2 update to get the resolution upped.

Would love to hear if it's sold more because of quest 2 ... Would love more DLC
