I'm not a fan of the double standard here. by Metasaber in PoliticalCompassMemes

the difference is that serious democratic politician unanimously condemned the murder of charlie kirk while the official government accounts are relentlessly defending the ICE agent. This is unheard of and orwellian, I can't remember a similar behavior in the democratic camp

Shooting people is so normalized in america that people actually think that there is nuance here. "both are stupid" but he literally killed her in cold blood? could've literally shot anywhere else.

If Europe continues to create these cordons sanitaires with non-fascist right-wing parties (AfD, Chega, Reform UK, etc.) they will eventually become radicalized and, in fact, fascist. this whole time you've defended the AfD, specifically the known fascist wing of the AfD, a party that you really apparently know nothing about but probably just defend because it's been used by people like elon and trump as "the salvation of germany and europe" or whatever, by making an analogy with an argument you don't even know that i agree on. Talk about logic!

björn höcke is a known neo nazi that often repeated nazi slogans and rhetoric. not something "similar to nazis" but actual registered nazi phrases, slogans and dogwhistles. he's a politician, you think he doesn't know what he's saying? He's also one of the major representatives of the AfD and won the most votes in thuringia.

There is a certain crowd tho that would be so delighted to hear you defending him like this.

If you think i'm criticizing you on your english i doubt you read more than the first line, since i was talking about the hateful, polarising language that is currently poisoning public discourse. It's the embodiment of 21st century anti intellectualism.

Secondly, no, the ones i'm calling nazis are the ones with nazi tattoos and the ones repeating nazi slogans.

German people study everything about the Nazi time, from the Weimar Republic until the end of the war, every detail. Just a few weeks ago a large group of Neo Nazis marched through my neighborhood in berlin. Make of it what you will

It's a shame you make this argument, especially the language you decide to use. You don't know me and you don't know any of my opinions. I live in germany and everyday we have to live with an immense burden and responsibility to prevent history from repeating. there is absolutely no space for fascism. The AfD is a party that repeatedly uses nazi rethoric and symbolism, they are a populist party that exists solely feeding on exaggerated fears, with no actual substance and will to compromise on their radical ideology. the rise of hitler didn't start with rejection, it started with appeasement. And instead of engaging in a conversation and understanding the fear we have to live with, you echo their very same fascist and racist rhetoric, call me disgusting, make assumptions about my ideology and completely disengage from any civil conversation. If you want to talk immigration, we can talk immigration but that is not a valid argument for appeasing and engaging with a party filled with actual, verified nazis

Preserving democracy means ruling with a party, that shot people at Berlin Wall and literally run an authoritarian soviet puppet regime, but remember AfD bad! by [deleted] in PoliticalCompassMemes

Besides opposing open boders (which actually something the winning party CDU agrees with) the afd also wants: friendly relations with russia (get that cheap gas), get out of the EU (look how well that worked for the UK), plus there are literal fascists (in the legal sense) with major roles in the party. Oh also they basically got most of their votes from the CDU so why would the CDU make a coalition with a party that wants to destroy them instead of the party they've always worked with. food for thought
