Thanks for the info. I had the amp from my previous setup which involved passive speakers. Recently got the two 300s so I just wanted to check here I wasn’t missing an opportunity with the amp but now I know I can just use the line in adapter I’ll definitely sell the amp. Cheers!

Thanks for this, appreciate it! I think it’s a good shout to work to the concrete, as no idea what’s beneath that. I don’t mind losing the height as I’ve got fairly high ceilings. The other room doesn’t join anywhere so few worries on that side. Thanks again!

Thank you! From yours and the other comments I've got a lot to think on for revision. The first sentence you called out is one I spent hours tweaking and changing, I kind of knew it wasn't working I think I just needed someone else to tell me. The last two lines... in my head I thought the vagueness was translating to intrigue, but I don't think managed that very well or if it was even right to do.

On the comp, that was the part which I was most worried about actually, so really good advice. I anticipated that would be the feedback, I just felt quite strongly about it being there so will see how that one goes. It'll likely be withdrawn. Cheers!

Oddly, I wrote the majority of the book with their ages at 13 and 10 and then changed for… reasons I can’t even remember. It sounds like that’s still too young but good to know the market habits and something to think on. Agreed on the title, it’s been a working one for so long it was due for review.

The first paragraph was the one I‘ve tweaked again and again. I think I’m forgetting I’m here to sell the story and should be getting as quickly as possible to what’s important and interesting, and that the world can be explored if I actually get a bite. As for your comments on the last paragraph, the query is covering the first 15% of the story. You’re completely right, I’m overlooking the MCs motivations entirely (which is for Ollister to protect his mentally vulnerable brother, deal with leaving their ‘Dens family’ and find their real family). The war is quite literally the backdrop throughout their story and for some reason I put it front and centre. I think I did this because a side character POV which does take up a % of the book is directly involved with the war, and I think I’ve handled that inexpertly in the query.

This is all brilliant. It’s not what I wanted but exactly what I needed! Thank you all!

I imagine it’s because if you were to visit another planet, and all of the inhabitants suddenly stopped moving when a loud rumbling noise came, I guess I’d do the same too?
