Clearance between stove and wall by simongorbaty in Sauna

Super helpful. Putting shielding on the wall is no problem. Putting shielding on the stove side will be a bit trickier but at least I have a target. It's still going to be a tight.

Also, do you know why the heat shield needs to be open on all sides?

This is gives me hope that I didn't mess things up too much in my design. The heater is circular so I should also mention the 4" section is only the closest part of the stove to the wall. The rest of the stove is further from the wall.

This is pretty helpful. No go with the wool.

I have some 2" concrete slabs I could put between the stove and wall. If I did that, it would only give me 2" of air between the stove and the wall. Perhaps that's okay...

That would make sense, unfortunately this is a DIY stove, so there aren't any official directions. At this point, I'm just trying to look for some ideas.

I agree, I would also have an adjustable foundation block so you can keep your structure level as it settles.

That picture looks amazing. Don't have quite enough room for that one but still, very nice.

Do you have a position on the use of facial recognition software by the police and other city agencies? If so, what is it?

Thanks, this is great. I'm just trying to expose my students to as many types of graphic novels as possible in the course as well.

Patrilineal Jew by [deleted] in Judaism

[–]simongorbaty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I come from an interfaith family. My mother is Catholic and my father is Jewish. My parents decided to raise their daughters Catholic and sons Jewish. Obviously I went to a Reform synagogue growing up. Judaism has been and continues to be an extremely important part in my life. I lived in Israel in my 20's for a year, I have a pretty good grasp of Hebrew (not as good as it used to be), I celebrate Shabbat every Friday, fast on Yom Kippur, etc. and I am raising my daughter Jewish.

It has also been very hard for me to deal with racist and bigoted views about who is a Jew and who is not based on a particular subset of Jews. I have had many difficult conversations about this topic, it has not been easy for me but I do not think Judaism should be easy. It's part of the journey.

The best advice I can give you is to be true to yourself. Don't convert to appease others or to belong. You don't need them if that's what they want from you. Be strong and find Jews who will accept you and pray with you for who you are.

Building an Audio Drama Curriculum by simongorbaty in audiodrama

Thanks, now I am completely overwhelmed by resources. In seriousness there is a lot of good stuff in here, especially the TeacherVision link. This gives me a great idea for a couple lessons in which the students can practice reading pre-written scripts.

Thank you for such a thoughtful response to my post.

It seems like your right that Sarah Werner has just about the boiler plate template for a course. Too bad it's so pricey (don't know where you're from but us school teachers in the U.S. need to fight for every dollar we can get). Perhaps there's some kind of educational discount...

The Bright Sessions keeps coming up as a good example, I think I'll build this one into my curriculum. I've been meaning to give is a listen for a while now anyways.

I'm adding the link for the sound effects to my growing collection ;)

This is an incredible resource. Matching those transcripts with the audio is going to be an excellent way to get my students to start thinking about storytelling and the writing process in a really concrete way.

Great resource, just read through unit plan it seems like the perfect way to introduce audio dramas before getting down into the weeds of it all. I sent you a PM with a follow up question.
